Ok, judging by that infodump in the main quest, it seems like you folks could do with an actual discussion thread!

In relation to said infodump, I'd better clarify a few things. For instance, although the quest does take place in the Exalted setting, and you may pick up on one or two extra details or clues through familiarity with said setting, don't be too trusting in what you already know! For example, the possible magical powers available were mentioned. In Lunar Quest, a lot of the elements of the system have been simplified and folded into each other - for example, the array of Excellencies has been reduced to the Boost system. Similarly, Abilities and specialities have been folded together into Competencies, and Saulanna's method of improving herself bears no relation to the xp/training time mumbojumbo that Exalted uses. And it's not just the game system. Our heroine has no idea what year in the setting it is... so, neither do you. It's different, in summary! This quest should be just as fun for people who aren't familiar with Exalted as it is for people who are.

Keep an open mind, hey?

The real question is what the magical material cutlery does.
I mean, they were dicking around with piles of magic, it probably cooks the food while you cut while seasoning it to perfection and additionally makes a perfectly serviceable set of weapons in case you get jumped while eating AND lets you deflect social attacks by responding to the talking with a fork to the eye.

Sorry, no pictures, just stats, a backstory, and a description. They're pants made of moonsilver that the moon used to try and seduce Gaia. They're described as very tight, thin pants that call attention to your ass and genitals and increase Appearance/Beauty by 4, which is rather a lot.

Also, a link to download a pdf of the Scroll of Swallowed Darkness, which is a noncanon April Fools' NSFW book. It has a picture of the Scarlet Empress receiving a spaghetti breakfast from her husband, the Ebon Dragon.

Come stage 3, the rumors of him went through. His own posse spoke of him, and the rumors got more and more elaborate he was sure. Perhaps some in his group thought ill behind his back, and merely didn't backstab him because of the CU rewards for helping him, or the likely chance that they would be slain after trying to kill the Chief, or a myriad of other issues mixed with their want of survival. He spent some time in the casino, not just to gain CU, which he gained a hundred or two of, but to talk to everyone before they threw their money away. To tell them to join him for a chance and such things. There were 40 exits, and given the half survival rates just to get to the end portal, which ended up being even worse for that stage, he says that he could hold up to 80 people without anyone having to fight within the group for an exit space. Even if there was a bit more than 80 in his party, they would have to really screw up for the chief to decide to absorb, and that's a small price to pay for what is practically a guaranteed ride through the final area.

He wasn't even positive how many he had before stage 3 started. He delegated a lot of the recruiting. The succubus, met in stage 2, proved worthwhile a few times over with her ability to convert a good deal of members.

Not everyone, of course. Mongrel, Bandit and the Recluse had no interest. Some of his absorptions led him to believe that Alison would be nothing but trouble and competition as well, but there was no point in stirring trouble in a safe zone.

Come stage 3. Level 7 absorb. 8 people in the first section, 4 people in the second. 6 people absorbed in the first section, 3 people in the second. Big lizard was the one person that he didn't absorb, being a member of his posse. Chief saved his life there, as well. The chest at the end of the second granted him access to the Range line, while he had bought the scan line from the shopkeep in stage 3. He was on the high track, and felt like nothing could go wrong despite the reasonable voices in his mind saying that he wasn't invincible. Alison was there, and his allies horribly out of place, but he was strong. He knew how much he skyrocketed in stage 2's end, and even the first areas of stage 3 were immense. How much, he wondered, he could gather at the end of stage 3 provided Alison's group couldn't best him. The answer, monumental amounts of CU if he could pull it off. His pedestal was the highest, and rising the fastest. Then the bandit. His skill line that seems as though it was made to be pitted against him. Everything flipped in two turns, and he was at the bottom, as Alison should know. Before his head stopped spinning, his own group, never given any reason by the chief to look past their own survival, turned on him.

And that is the summation.

If Chief had been true to the rumors, then he would have had a few companions who helped convince people to serve him, and then assist in slaughtering them in each level by pincering them.
THAT would have been an unstoppable Chief, even if his key companions had already been absorbed or split away.

I just wish I were a bit more consistent with Grunt's size and arms. Sorry guys, I'll make more of an effort in future attempts!

Actually, I haven't really got a height chart down. I think I'll do that sometime soon, because I know for a fact, Grunt isn't that bloody huge.

Hey guys, thought you all might want to know that I've been very busy trying to move back to the other side of the earth. It's quite an exhausting expedition, and I've so many things to do before I make my departure! I'll try and squeeze in a few updates when I can, but I'm doing a lot of running around and not knowing really what the ever-loving fuck I'm accomplishing lately, which is all really, really dumb.

Also Dark Souls and XCom eat up a lot of my freetime (granted, a lot less now) because I'm retarded and can't manage time. As an apology for my shitty work ethic, I offer you quest updates (which will be along shortly) and some junk I decided not to use(???) in Minion Quest, explained a bit.

The Water Construct was originally supposed to be a familiar to the cleric (due to some weird story stuff that may make sense later if I ever get the chance to explain) and dickbutt around with the currently unknown healer, but I decided that it looked fucking retarded and made another, fairly smaller one.

Armed Grenades worked something like sticky grenades in halo. You toss it at something, it grabs on for dear life until it's life comes to an end.

The Necrojester was supposed to be a thing in The Spare Parts room, but I decided that the design was really dumb and since have done absolutely nothing to recreate it. The primary purpose of The Necrojester is to be very, very distracting to the point of the protagonist's frustration.

Pelvis Thrauscht. I misspelled his name in the image, whoops. I really wanted to name him "Elvis Goatee Flyingbutts", but that would have been immensely dumb. In fact, the character was immensely dumb and probably not very fun to interact with at all, so he got the axe in the most literal of senses.

Grunt Design. Ah, yes I originally wanted to make Grunt into a no nonsense eyebrow heavy homicidal maniac of a r

Thank you very much, Yellow! Sorry for the slowdown. I've been very busy! Don't worry though, I'm nearly always writing for it. I'm still waiting for that to pay off, aha!

Grunt was originally a midboss before I decided that it would be dumb and stupid and scrapped it entirely. You see, there are many different ways to tell this story, depending on the eyes of the body experiencing it.

Or uh, monitor, as this case may be.

I wrote a lot for the story and characters of Minion Quest. So much so, that I could tell the entire story through any of the NPCs, though their telling would be significantly more distorted than through the eyes (I mean monitor) of Grunt, and they probably wouldn't play along nearly as nicely. I grew to like Grunt after a while, and before I knew it, bam! The roles reversed. Don't worry though, you have the option not to hurt her (and better yet, a chance or two to recruit her!), should you so chose.

Though, every mage (full, complete, learned mage) has a familiar that relates to them in their field of magic, due to the world's (aha, this sounds like such a cop-out, but it's gonna sound better explained in the story itself later down the road, as opposed to right here) strange, magical properties. That one armed mage? Has a personal construct. The Necromancer? Many, maaaany summons, but only one construct. They're linked, so if the mage's mortal coil is cut, the construct will still exist, but there's a high chance it will go batshit insane. If the construct expires, the mage loses their ability to use magic. Usually forev

Turn 1 Thread - http://tgchan.org/kusaba/quest/res/395339.html

Stats
Character: Erica
Gender: Female
Age: 19
Color: Blue
Current Life: 9
Max Life: 11
Spells/Cycle: 3
Land Cap: 10

Erica needs a deck built for duels.

You are limited to common and uncommon blue cards from the Mercadian Masques and Invasion Blocks, as well as Magic Core Sets 2010 and forward. Select wisely, as Erica only gets five different spells (four castings of each) to start with.

Feel free to use Gatherer (gatherer.wizards.com) or www.magiccards.info to discuss your picks. Any questions about the combat system or the game in general are also to be asked here.

Now, I'm not here to choose the new card that we're gonna be using as there's been much debate about it. I'm here to try to guess our new "black" best friend's magic spells.

And I'm guessing from M10,11,12 that Nicole gonna be using undead creatures, more specifically vampires, zombies and probably Black Knight. What two blocks she gets I won't guess, just no point in it.

Nicole probably got our starter deck list choice options as well, five from Mercadian Masques and Invasion as well as 2010-2012. Possibly also the extra pick from 2010-2012.
>>
No. 55026 ID: af10de
Seeing as there's not been any real consensus, I'm shelving the pick until you get another card choice, or earlier if you all agree on something.

I also apologize again for leaving you all hanging as long as I did. Real life happens, unfortunately, and when it does I have to deal with it before dealing with imaginary magical girls. I hope you all understand.
>>54690
Because I'm a vindictive bastard, I'll tell you: Nicole is still sitting at "level 1", so she hasn't got a bonus pick yet. Her starting sets are the 3 core sets, plus kamigawa and ravnica blocks (a somewhat modern analog to your options - a generally weak block that had a few good cards but little that was extraordinary, followed by a very well-received multicolor block that sold like crazy.)

>Seeing as there's not been any real consensus
There was fairly real consensus that by nuking the effectiveness of tutors, library manipulation, and card draw, a huge chunk of blue's cards are reduced to crap and more crap. There was general consensus that nuking has indeed occurred. Also that no other color can reasonably expect to beat an intelligent red player in this system. Just sayin'.

On what card to choose, I feel reasonably confident saying that either "hold the pick until we can choose from a set that isn't mostly crap" or Phantasmal Image were our unhappy mediums.

>From the tone of the post it looks like you're fishing for ways to create Divine Servitors. Sake would probably know more about that than Davgon but I bet both have ideas.

I don't think I am. What I want is a little more than a divine servitor as far as I understand. Christian equivalent of a divine servitor is an angel, while what I aim for is more in the league of the holy spirit. An avatar without flesh would be another approximation.

I am pretty sure a divine servitor doesn't get to keep any parts of its divine creator's soul. I suspect they are made in a process similar to crystallization. The creator takes a soulless piece and oversaturates it with his power. For example by running his power through it and letting spillage accumulate. Once the piece is close to bursting from unorganized power, structure is imposed/offered and the entire piece falls into the new organization to relieve the pressure. Perhaps by a touching with soul to leave something like fingerprints to serve as seeds, perhaps by a binding.

None of the Hugs characters are showing up directly... unless I decide to cameo Lyskir which i will not deny is a good possibility.

Fish is kind of the more serious quest Hugs was an unknowing testbed for. Slissa Quest itself will probably wait for Fish to complete before starting, since it's meant to be a high production major quest and I don't want to spend 8 hours a day having to draw both.

But I'm still leading up to SQ in ways that will be more obvious soon.

A lot of discussion's come up in the latest DiveQuest chapter so I wanted to clarify some things here without diverting the action of the thread itself.

This whole reorganizational thing, facilitated by the character of Ashedel, is not really a retcon of anything, just a reorganization.
I mentioned that I was so frustrated by and not at all enjoying Divequest that I was on the verge of just outright canceling it, but instead I made some big changes to its overall theme and drive, and one of my biggest changes is ripping out all the micromanagement. That wasn't fun and several people told me they weren't able to keep up with the quest solely because of the bloated inventories and mana management, and I was inclined to agree. Simple is better.
Other changes include the way puzzles are handled, the general focus and scale, social interactions between the characters, and so on.
Mostly, as you can probably tell by now, DiveQuest is supposed to be pretty over the top and tongue-in-cheek, and I wanted to change the flow of the quest to better fit that. As it was, the puzzles and pacing too closely matched RubyQuest, which didn't really work for Dive.

Major changes include more focus on the characters, more dynamic puzzles, more agency on the part of the players, more of an over-the-top aesthetic, a generally smaller scale in terms of Muschio's minions (so that each of them can have their own personality), less stuff that takes itself too seriously, and so on. You get the basic idea.
The goal here is to make it more accessible, fast-paced, entertaining, somewhat silly, and open for new players.

That doesn't mean this is going to turn into a Harem quest or that there's not going to be more profuse amounts of violence, nor that everything will be RANDOM AND WACKY, nor that there will be no serious moments interspersed.
Just that the previous incarnation of DiveQuest was t

Hello folks! Since this is the very first quest I've ever done, I'm looking for feedback and constructive criticisms. I want to make this quest a good one, and I welcome anything you can offer.

Also, feel free to discuss plot matters here too.

Ashela (from Venji) sitting pretty, by request. Boring plot stuff in the spoiler.

Venji's plot was hurt near the end, but I think the biggest casualty was Ashela's character.

I tend to start characters as "gimmicks" and flesh them out as the quest goes, and Ashela's "gimmick" was "near-blindness makes her very touchy-feely. It was meant to be ambiguous if she was attracted to Venji or if they were just BFFs and she's like that.

I was told to come up with a backstory for Ashela in the middle of thread 3 because I was told she was too much of a blank slate. The result was a character that 180'd because I had to write her to fit the new story, rather than letting her grow from her starting gimmick.

Fleshing out a character is never a bad idea, but it's something that should be done before they're introduced-- not after they've already established themselves as something else. In hindsight, I would have been better off keeping her cheerful... certainly would have fit a parody quest better than all the abloo bloo bloo.

This is one thing Tezakia actually did better. Kinasa is similar to Ashela's original concept, and while Kinasa has a really sad backstory, it isn't brought up or focused on-- it just makes her who she is.

This is a lesson I will try to take to heart for Slissa.

This is great. You are great for thinking of and/or applying this idea.

I think she's tried all of the drugs. But the question is if she's had a prescription for her issues, provided by a responsible and well informed doctor. And stuck to it.

If a doctor was responsible and informed wouldn't he know she was a supervillain and bring in heroes ?

Our portals where ever we want though, rather than hell. And presumably they have fire instead of purple. See my boss-as-fuck depiction way up here:
