>Welcome back to News Nine. It's 10 minutes past the hour, and we're covering our main story of this morning. The city of Nanohagen was rocked this morning by a massive explosion. Authorities are still investigating, but have provided little detail as to what is going on currently. Our man on the scene, Brett Indahl has more on this story. Brett?

>Thanks, Diane. I'm here in the 1800 block of Testerossa Avenue, where authorities are still investigating the mysterious explosion that rocked this neighborhood in the wee hours of the morning.

>There have been few leads so far, but the police are steadfast in finding out what happenned. To make matters more difficult, eyewitness accounts have been questionable, at best. We have checked with the gas company, and they have said that they are currently looking into the matter as well, but it is uncertain if a gas leak is the source of the explosion, or if it is merely a side effect of this blast. As you can see, the pavement here has buckled and cracked from the force of the blow, and there is shattered glass everywhere. Damage estimates are reaching into the hundred thousand dollar mark many times over.

>Whatever happenned here seems to understandably have these residents pretty shaken up. Here is an interview we had earlier today with one of the few people willing to speak with us about what they witnessed earlier tonight.

---
>"Yo estaba tomando un aperitivo de la noche con mi mujer, viendo una película. Hemos oído algo fuera, así que corrió a la ventana para mirar.
>I was having a late night snack with my wife, watching a movie. We heard something outside, so we rushed to the window to look.

>Fuera, vi a una niña corriendo por la calle con un bate de béisbol. Al principio, pensé que iba a causar algunos problemas, pero entonces, vi algo que yo no lo podía creer. Una bestia enorme, envuelto en fuego y el humo salió a la calle, persiguiendo a ella.
>Outside, I saw a little girl running down the street with a baseball bat. At first, I thought she was about to cause some trouble, but then, I saw something I could not believe. A huge beast, wrapped in fire and smoke stepped out into the street, chasing her.

>Pensé que para seguro de que estaba dormida o soñando o algo así. La chica no se ha ejecutado. Se atacó a la bestia, tratando de defenderse de apagado. Esta niña fue la lucha contra el derecho Diablo fuera de mi apartamento con sólo un bate de béisbol!
>I thought for certain I was asleep or dreaming or something. The girl did not run. She attacked the beast, trying to fend it off. This little girl was fighting the Devil right outside my apartment with just a baseball bat!

>Agarré a mi esposa y mi Biblia, y corrió al baño para empezar a rezar. Entonces, hubo un ruido terrible ... una explosión como yo sólo pensaba OCURRIDO en las películas. El edificio entero se sacudió! Estaba seguro de que íbamos a morir.
>I grabbed my wife and my bible, and we ran to the bathroom to start praying. Then, there was this terrible noise... an explosion like I only thought happenned in the movies. The entire apartment building shook! I was certain we were going to die.

>Cuando salimos del baño y miró hacia afuera, el humo estaba en todas partes. La niña y el diablo estaban en ninguna parte por ningún lado. Ruego a Dios que no vuelva a ocurrir."
>When we came out of the bathroom and looked outside, smoke was everywhere. The little girl and the Devil were nowhere nowhere to be seen. I pray to God that it doesn't happen again.

I haven't named the kitten yet. I only got it last night! Mom said I could keep it if I take care of it, and that she wouldn't be able to help as she's always gone. I dunno what to name it even.

Geez. The news seems to be really going on about... um... about that mysterious explosion... that I don't know about. At all.

>>141483

Yeah, I've got school. It's not for a little bit, though. I lost a bit of sleep, but I don't mind at all since it means I get to see mom for a little while before she's gotta go to work.

>"*sigh* This city's seen better days. What's this world coming to? And I'll have to leave earlier. That's right on the route I take to work."

"Y-yeah... I hope everything turns out okay."

I'll try not to worry about people finding out, but... it's tough. I'm not that good at lying about stuff.

After school, I don't really have anything, other than homework. But it's Friday, so it's not as important.

oh and find a vet to give the vaccines to the cat before you get rabies or some shit like it.

Anyways. I head down to the bus stop. I'm early, so Shortstack and I talk a bit to pass the time. He seems to be trying for the motormouthed tough guy type today.

It seems last night, he saw the huge explosion light up the skyline with blues and reds and yellows. He describes it with lots of great sound effects and expressive hand motions. The television at his place was nothing but news about it, too.

That interview bit seems to have given him the idea to brag about how he wouldn't need nothin' to take down monsters. Yo. He'd just need to whip out his own kind of 'bat'. This leads to bragging about how the 'bitches' in his class be 'all up ons'. Fo' shizzle. Bizzle.

I really hope he gets all this out of his system soon. He's getting harder to decipher lately. I thought my teacher said girls were supposed to mature faster than boys...

A bathhouse is a building that has a lot of baths and showers in it, and people can go there to bathe.
They're pretty popular in Japan, since there's a lot less room and many people don't have proper bath-tubs or showers in their homes, and also because they have really big baths that are good for relaxing in.
You can look forward to us referencing a lot of Japanese things, since the situation you're in is basically something out of Sailor Moon or Card Captor Sakura.
Anyway, get started on your home-work after petting her.

"What's a little trouble compared to your whole WORLD getting thrown into chaos?"

"Look, you said it would get stronger. How MUCH stronger? How quick? And we'd be fighting in broad daylight!"

"That armor you first had wasn't exactly tissue paper, and last night, you ruined it. And that was only against a demon that had only just joined with its host. The longer it has to get familiar with its host, the stronger it will be, and the longer its host has to get used to the abilities, the stronger it will be. That's not even including its recovery from being imprisoned for so long, naturally healing."

"Well... isn't there some way to like... I don't know... make some kind of body-double or something for me to still be in class?"

"I don't know. Can you make illusions?"

"No... but... you're magic! Can't you do something?"

"Bugs... don't exactly have the best magic potential. Too small, short lived. I'm trying to figure out this form, but right now, it's looking like I might have trouble even simply channelling energies until I figure it out. This isn't exactly the figure I grew up and lived my life in, you know. It's lucky that this figure can fly on its own."

Ohhh balls. I leave, I'm screwed. I stay, I get beat up more when I go after it. I leave halfway, maybe I could do better against it, but it'll still suck. If I get sick, they'll call my mom to come get me, or maybe my brother. They never make it look this difficult on tv... oh man oh man...

"The fire alarm. It's a red box on the wall that says 'fire alarm'. It's got a lever to pull down. It'll set off alarms, and we'll all have to get out of the school while they check the alarm out. I can use that time to get out of here."
=====
Soon, I'm running. I have to hurry. Maybe I can get back quick enough if I get this done.

>"I think we're far enough away. You should probably change before we find it. Just remember that method I said last night."

What? ...oh. Right. I should change, shouldn't I? I run into someplace out of the way...

I skid to a halt as Rebeka slows to look around.

"I could swear this is where I felt it..." She darts around, looking wherever she can.

"Just because you don't see something doesn't mean it's not there. I can still feel something nearby... Can't you feel it?"

I can't really feel anything different.

Is that a fucking squirrel.

Is it fucking pulsing with green energy.

Hit it with your bat and then run away.

Looks like a squirrell, possibly powered by the green sun. And it's fast as all fucking hell.

You're going to have to try to use that speed against it. Look for a place with a lot of gravel. That way you can throw the gravel into the air when the thing is zipping past and that should make it slow down some, or possibly work as a weapon if it goes fast enough.

Shit. Demon squirrel.

Well, first line of defense is "whack with bat," right?

She's nuts! "How the hell am I going to catch up with that fucking thing??"

God damn it all... I guess I'll get plenty of exercise today, at least...

Find super glue or some other good adhesive. Put large amounts on the ground around you. Squirrell tries superspeed attack and then gets stuck. You whack it with the bat and victory is yours.

Speed is king in a fight. This is going to be difficult unless you can corner it or predict its movements. I would suggest trying a feint, and/or drawing it into an enclosed space.

Try and find somewhere with a large body of water (pond/lake/river)? It'll either restrict it's movement, or get it wet enough that it'll skid around in straight and easier to predict lines.

...doesn't glue take a while to set? Even superglue can take like... anywhere from five to thirty seconds depending on the brand, I think.

>>274489
Kinda sounds like a plan.

>>274505
...but how would I get to it when it's running across the water like some ninja in a cheesy after-cartoons saturday movie?

... Well, that's... I guess I could give that a shot? Never know unless I try, I guess.

>"It's just a channel. It makes things easier. You'd have to learn how to shoot lasers before you could do so."

NOW she tells me... "Well, how do I do that?"

"Can't you teach me ANYTHING? Like how to cast or tap into magic some crap?"

>"...crash course? Fine. Focus. Relax. Don't trust your eyes, ears, yadda yadda all too much. Don't pay as much attention to them and try to feel the world."

Stupid vauge, confusing bug... "...whatever."

... The squirrel's doing something. "It's doing something."

>"Yes, looks like it's waiting for something or getting ready."

"No, something else. I don't know what, but it's doing something even though it's stopped up there and--" Oh fuck what was that? here it comes.

Close your eyes, turn off your targeting computer, trust in your instincts.

...and swing for the fences.

Use its speed against it, it has momentum, things in motion want to stay in motion. Just hold your bat firmly with both hands, your hands should be 2 feet apart on the bat. one near its bottom and one halfway between the middle and top. Then just move it into the path of the creature as it zips on by. Your bat seems to steal power from the demons for you, so if it hits it, it might make you faster, fast enough to fight it on a more even footing perhaps.

Also, when you beat this thing, do not run away... you should wait for the news reporters and the cops, then show the news reporters (cops can wait, you want the news to see it first) how you transform. Then tell them everything. Make sure to say that the demon blew up that street yesterday, not you, you just stopped it from blowing up more. It was a fire demon.

They can help, remember your friend? her dad's car was ruined... what if her dad was in it? he could have died. If people know about you then you could get out of school whenever needed, the police can evacuate the area, you can get training and aid from the military, your friend the roach isn't going to be killed be exterminators, your family will be taken care of, and there could be a police car or helicopter ready to drive you anywhere you need to go to fight a demon. Oh, and they could get scientists to learn magic from Rebeka, study you and your equipment and the animals you save. Don't worry about dissection, that's just movies and its stupid. Scientists know better than that, if you dissect something you can't study it well, you need to look through it while it is alive. This means using MRI machines, used to be X-ray but MRI is better in that it doesn't give you cancer.

Better idea, rather than have the goverment get in the way of you saving your city and everything and poking at you with sticks for the next 5 to 10 years, how about just running away faster while waving to the witnesses that are no doubt watching you.

Although the battle plan for the squirrel sounds solid! Teach it some SCIENCE!
