The day started out fairly stressful. Your commute to classes was overly long and you're currently stuck in your college bookstore, waiting in line for your books. On the plus side they have the T.V. Tuned to CNN who is currently reporting on a series of strange lights that have been seen for the past few weeks over all major cities and a series of rolling blackouts, and satellite crashes. It is about this time your Black berry beeps.

The message you receive is ominous. Four simple words that make your body shiver and suddenly want to fly to the shelves and grab whatever you can hold.

YOU HAVE TEN MINUTES.

You race to the books stacked off to the side. And find....well not much. Mostly copies of twilight, and various other fictional works. Amongst them the book Hatchet...

You are now drawing several stares from people and seem to not be the only one in the crowd that received the ominous message.

>>
No. 232030 ID: ea0b12

the girl, one of the people that is also madly running about the store tears free of your grasp as she races for what appears to be the shelves stocked with things suck as Campbels soup cups. Thankfully you're going to a college that is partly an ag. School. You make your way into one of the aisles and are promptly greeted with things such as water proof notebooks, small magnifying lenses, and one small jack knife behind a glass case.... It appears to be secure behind there thanks to a tiny lock.

we need a lighter or two, duct tape, superbonder and sewing kit for makeshift first aid kit, whatever cereal bars we can lay hands on, tools of any kind, any heavy mettalic object (a security flashlight would do, crowbars arent really that great), knives and bottled water. we may need cotton to make cleaning filters, but thick clean clothing can work for it as well.

i do not think we will need survival manuals considering how this quest is being played, if you have spare time try to get: walkie talkie, rechargeable batteries with a solar charger, guns and ammo, spare backpacks/purses, foldable barracks or at least one sleeping bag.

and i sure hope those clothes are confortable. tennis would be nice to have, but blisters will eventually "pop up", and so no new socks or shoes will be a step down for us.

>>232030
what a horrible find. continue to run if you dont want to shoplift for what seems to be a very unimportant item. are there at least spare batteries around? they could become useful.

coming to think of it, what are the guard equipped with?
>>
No. 232037 ID: ea0b12

You surprisingly see no guards standing around however you do find a rather large amount of clothing hanging on racks. Much of it simple things such as hoodies and sweatshirts but, you do see A few pair of socks with the Figthing Stallions(the colleges mascot) on them. Where the girl has fled you spot several boxes of cereal bars along with a few packages of Ramen noodles, oreoes. Alongside these are several containers of shampoo, and body wash along with products such as toothbrushes, combs and nail trimmers, you spot a couple containers of gorilla glue as well, just before your black berry goes off yet again.

the gorilla glue isnt good foor 1st aid. if there is no duct take, scram and trhow money at the face of the store clerk.

you stuff the cereal bars, and several bottles of water into your backpack before rushing out of the door tossing money at the clerk in the process. they begin to speak but you scarcely hear them as you rush outside. Across the way maybe fifty feet is a dining hall. Given the quality of food, its safe to say some of it comes from cans or is precooked enough to be edible cold.

As you look around you realize that you are far from alone. People are rushing madly about shoving those who did not receive the message out of the way in the process of gather their supplies.

In your inventory:

Ten cereal bars
Six bottles of water
One pocket knife
a set of nail clippers
one backpack
two spiral notebooks
three pens(blue and black ink)
a mechanical pencil
your hoody
a t-shirt with some design on it.
a pair of pants
comfortable shoes
socks and boxers

well alright, how about this explanation:
lighter - fire, and we wont be dependent on dry leaves or hours of brushing wood on wood like a gay lumberjack
Duct tape - makeshift cast for broken bones with anything half straight, bandaind, useful all around
superbonder - makeshift badnaid
sewing kit - sewing wounds and maybe clothing
maybe i forgot a source of alcohol to clean wounds. how about some vodka or anything stronger, maybe absinthe?
first aid kit - if we happen to find one, yay.
flashlight - source of light and when uncharged, blungeoning object
knives - sharp and pointy, perfect for crafting
bottled water - yes. lots.
Cotton - with thin sand and a place to build a small open pot, we can make a water filter.
walkie talkie - so we may keep in touch with anyone at whoever we manage to make a base at
rechargeable batteries - for flashlight and maybe the walkies
solar charger - cuz trees and stones are known for having outlets.
guns and ammo - if we ever find, we would be armed.
spare backpacks - spare leather and extra holding space, if we find fruits and shit we can keep on them.
foldable cot - my engrish is good.
sleeping bag - add the above and you have instant outdoor trip.

>>232054
no other stores around? we may need more food anyway, but duct tape would be exelent.

sadly no, you're on a college campus fairly far from the town. You'd run out of time by the time you reached the nearest store front. However, the dining hall should have a few of those things at least.

well darn. scamper around for frozen food, we have major holes there.

attempt to find any heavy blungeoning object or makeshifts weapons, but try not to break anything. a spare knife can be turned later on into a spear, but we would need a good knife to make both.

im pretty sure we can find sharpening stones in the wild.

With maddened strength you rip the first aid kit off the wall whilst tossing the wallet( containing a whole six dollars) at the woman. carrying the case you proceed to steal the largest pot you can find. A heavy steel thing that is easily able to fit three containers of canned fruits into it along with a serrated bread knife, a long general purpose knife and a rather hefty cleaver. in your rush you briefly spot what looks like a large container of cooking sherry.

Six minutes falls to three to quickly however and chaos seems to be taking hold across the campus as rather chubby figure makes a mad dash for a stand containing bags of potato chips...

Your black berry, previously annoying has developed a shrill constant whistling that is echoed by numerous pieces of electronic machinery filling the area with an ear piercing Din.

Suddenly as it comes however it passes away. Silence fills the air as a single sound echoes as the shrill end.

Even as your legs press you towards the kitchen yet again you feel something not unlike a rope a snag you around your waist pulling at you with incredible force. Your vision blurs as lights begin to appear around you twisting and curling strands of light and energy that seem to take hold of your body. Your legs simply can fight at the forces working against you.

The building is filled with terrified screams as several others(oddly the fat guy near the chips not being amongst them) are caught within similar snares.

Your body twists and squirms as if possessed and for an instant you can see all around you something that looks vaguely like a machine of immense size. As quickly as it passes by though you are plunged into darkness and unconsciousness.

What feels like an eternity passes before you finally come to. The sensation of falling is the first thing you feel as your mind and body seem to wake from an oppressive slumber.

John shrugs.

"Right now, we're still getting a head count. Last I heard theres over two hundred people within just where I landed and it looks like another fifty or so right here." He makes a gesture towards the men coming down the hill. "As for the matter of civilization, I don't know about that, we're just trying to round up everyone before things get out of control. we should ask the man for a leader/mayor and check shit out like what we can do to earn our worth.

also, what are our personal skills again?

Never decided on. Also, its the spiritual successor. The squabbling will come soon enough don't you worry.

As you wander around trying to pick a good spot you run into a man holding what appears to be a cage full of chickens. His haggard face has a small smile on it as he sets done his noisy cargo.

"Looks like you missed all the fun." he begins gesturing towards the rancid mess that you just came from. " Hell of a show though."

The man with the chickens shrugs.

"I was hiding at the time. Should have seen them go at it though they were tearing the hell out of each other then, WHAM. A single damned gunshot and one of them hit the ground like a sack of bricks. The other bit it shortly after either from a bullet or from the injuries it had gotten in the scuffle." He explains as he motions towards the stinking masses of now dead meat."As for that light well, no idea to be honest, Just happened after I got that crazy message and I blacked out for a bit. The next time I came to, I was here."

Offering up the pot you quickly are directed to nearby water source. It seems several of the structures were built to tap into underground water supplies. The building you enter is covered in a thin layer of moisture and in its center is a small pool that seems to be welling up from the ground. As you dip the pot into the rather cool, clear water you feel something supple and slimy brush against your hand....

You quickly back peddle away as something slowly begins to lurch from the water. Several long rubbery tentacles stretch and curl from the top of the body as four muscular feet that simply Squish and flatten against the hard wet ground haul the four foot diameter thing from the pool. Its body is covered in a hard shell with opening for where the muscular bits poke free. Its face is a bit like a crabs and four dark glittering eyes peer at you.

For a few moments it sits still and then slowly begins to crawl towards the door as a dozen or so smaller versions each with maybe a foot long begin to creep out of the water scuttling around it bulk.

Pot in hand, you stand directly in the direction it is heading.

You quickly sidestep the creature and give a slight bow to it saying sorry for feeling up its...um...feelers. You think...

as if in agreement it lazily waves one of the tentacles and promptly crawls through the doorway into the sun. The resulting screams and shouts echoing through the area as the troupe of...tentacled...turtle...things makes their way out in lieu of you.

The yells die down for a second and quickly are resumed as the cluster of strange creatures make their way through the area. the noise finally draws your attention and you realize they are making their way towards the masses of recently killed flesh, tentacles waving eagerly.

you scramble quickly from the structure, dropping your pot with a rather loud CLANG. Hurrying you manage to find a rather rotted piece of wood that you hope can be used to deter the creatures from your freshly earned larder.

As you race into their way, they begin to slow and finally stop. The largest of them standing before waving its tentacles in the air eagerly as its black eyes stare at you, or, more likely look for a way around you.

The smaller ones however, care little for your antics and simply scurry between your legs and around you, racing towards the large piles of fresh food.

Carefully you reach into your pack. you see amongst your belongings what looks like a cliffbar, pulling it quickly out and unwrapping the tasty morsel you lob it at the creature, It stares at you as it lands by...you believe they are feet.

A tentacle gingerly snakes down and scoops the bar up shoving it into the beasts mouth.

Moments pass it thoughtfully tastes and tests the quality of the meal you have presented it before finally it gives something that may in fact have been a shrug. It slowly begins to turn away heading towards the chamber which it had just left.
