What..what should I take?

A figure is shoved in-it's the gnoll from the days ago! He's got a black eye, and looks skinny and sick. He doesn't seem to have nearly as much fight in him, and even the green glow from his eyes appears to be gone.

"What?"

>"He was found..unfit for our cause. Since you had met him, we decided you may like to train on him."

"And..How will I do that?"

>"We can start with minor injury and the start of malnutrition. He's dehydrated and is going through a lot of pain from not eating nor drinking in almost a weak. What would you like to start training to treat?"

Did you purposely starve him for training? That's inhumane! Tell me he at least gets paid for his troubles!
>>
No. 499504 ID: d6ef5d

Geeze, they aren't teaching you anything about how to care for people, they're just giving you someone to care for and trial and erroring it? What jerks.

I suppose it's a good thing you didn't chose weapon training or else...

>what do?
The first you do with a patient is assess them.

Assuming there are no critical injuries for you to treat, getting him some water is probably the first thing to be done. Dehydration bad, and that puts something in his stomach. Then we move on to minor injuries and getting him fed.

Remember, if someone's been starved, their first impulse is going to be to overindulge and gorge. Which will often just makes them sick and vomit. So you have to be careful not to give him too much at once.

Hard for me to tell off hand how bad shape h'se is- a regular human would be dead after no water for a week. Obviously alien-ing him has changed things.

These people are evil! Thou must escape after training and eliminate them. Then eliminate your father.

>>499508
Yeah, no.

On one side, we've got people fighting for their freedom by mercilessly killing people who have been converted. On the other, you have perfectly ordinary people with partial alien powers (and aliens, who claim to just be trying to save their species). It's a mess, and not one we solve by more needless killing. There's already too much of that, and neither side seems interested in thinking things through.

>"Man, man, fuck! These people, they're fucking crazy! Shit little man, help me! They're gonna do some bad shit, an' break my bones so you can set em', and burn me, fuck!"

He's practically sobbing. This has to be a joke-I look at Taya, trying to mutter out some sort of protest.

"H-he's hurt..Doesn't deserve t-this!"

Taya casts a nervous glance at the man who brought the gnoll in.

>"Finnian..I suggest that if you don't want to end up like Terry here, you go along with it. You are very close to going out on the field. Don't throw it away."

I manage a nod.

>"Alright, good. Now, how about we start with hydrating him?"
>>
No. 499518 ID: 389f2b

Okay get some water in him, but remember to sip not gulp, too much to fast and he'll throw up. After you get some water and clean out those cuts and stuff, get raw meat for his black eye and some small amounts of food for him. Have him continuously drink small sips and give him more food in about an hour

One's invading and converting everyone, if they plan to convert everyone that is cultural and overall a standard of genocide. Killing them might be more justified.

Regardless help the poor gnoll, this is what happens when your not "Fit" afterall.

[6 DAYS LATER]

On the final day they cut an artery. I'm challenged to stop the bleeding and save him.

I fail.

The floor and myself is covered in his blood and I get sick.

I'm congratulated and told I passed, despite losing him.

The gnoll is cremated and his still-smoking ashes tossed into a trashcan.

>"Alright, Finnian. Now it's time to send you on the field. You have some choices, though-South Carolina, North Carolina, or Florida. All three have heavy rebel numbers that we need you to get into.

Well, this is great. You've got terrified natives killing people for fear of being killed or turned into monsters. You've got an army of conscripts fighting them, terrified of being killed by their ruthless recruiters.

Real win-win situation, here.

Uh, what about the glowing thing on my head?

when you get a chance. get a pinch of those ashes and eat it. is symbolic more then anything, but it means you will carry on his will with you.

anyway, Florida.

South Carolina is where your father is.
It's our best bet to keep options open. But, how would they prevent you from becoming a traitor? Don't ask that, wait for them to warn you. It might be smart to ask how they'll be monitoring you though.

If you get alone time with Taya ask her how this place could do something so monsterous however, this is almost like in WW2 with the concentration camps and Mengele. What the fuck. Make that exact comparison and see what her defense is (of course, maybe there never was WW2 and Mengele in this world, so it's pointless, but the American revolution had to happen, so it's not a stretch). She's the only one that it's probably the least risky to ask, she does seem to care slightly for your well-being. The worst she'll do is probably say, "Shut up and stop asking questions like that, it's suspicious." The least risky time to ask it is just before you leave, when it's almost certain it's too late to just keep you to use like the gnoll.

The problem with going to where Finn's dad is is that he might have no problem shooting us on sight now that we've been infected.

North Carolina. They're testing to see if you run at the first opportunity. You can desert then and go find the only sane person who won't shoot you (your dad (hopefully)). It'll be worth the walk because saying South Carolina is a death sentence at this point. You should be able to get there in a week walking 10 hours a day. 3 days if you only stop to sleep.

North Carolina does suddenly sound better..I don't want them to change their minds.

"North Carolina."

>"Great! We'll leave right away."

"Whoa, what--??"

Taya rushes me through halls and doors and stairs, and I find myself in a hanger. A helicopter is already started up, and I find myself shoved onto it.

>"You'll be dropped off in Raleigh. Try not to be seen. You'll get a parachute pack and a pack with clothes and water. Search houses or shops for food-they're all abandoned. In your pack is months worth of supplies of pills that take your glow away. Have one a day. Do NOT lose them. Our side will not attack you-if someone attacks you that looks like they should be on our side is a traitor. There is a gun and knife and medical supplies in your pack as well. Don't die."

She shoves me forward, and I stumble in. Seconds later the door closes and the helicopter rises.

The pilot pulls out a hand radio and speaks into it.
