SPRING 1
Weather: Sunny

Wow! This is going to be my shop! I'm so excited!

My name is Tessa. I came to the small town of Honeyside to finally live my dream! I'm going to be a professional witch! I can't wait to get right to work.

I hope I get lots of customers! I need to keep up the $1,000 monthly rent on my shop!

It's going to be hard, but I'm ready to work.

I currently have:
10 units of lavender
10 units of vervain
10 units of rosemary
10 units of sage
10 units of rose petals
10 units of cinnamon
10 bay leaves
10 quartz crystals
10 amethyst crystals
10 red bags
10 sticks of frankincense incense
10 sticks of dragon's blood incense
10 units of holy water
10 units of salt
10 red candles
10 white candles

I also have a basic altar set-up: an incense burner, bowls for salt and holy water, one needfire candle (which will last about a year), a cauldron, a chalice, and an athame.

If I want more plants, I'll have to buy seeds and grow them myself. Everything else I'll need I should be able to either buy at local stores or find out in the wilderness. There's lots of forests and old caves around here!

I've heard that the villagers are really welcoming, too! I can't wait to start my adventure!

What should I do today?

I don't have much memorized, but I have a huge Book of Shadows! As far as spells go, I can do just about anything. Luck, money, love, cleansing, hex-breaking, healing... The list goes on!

I'm also pretty decent at divination. I left my old stuff at home, though. I'll have to get some more at some point.

I would prefer not to perform hexes. I mean, the customer's always right, but... I don't want that kind of negative energy hanging around me!

sounds good, you have a sign out front advertising your business? can't have customers if they don't know you are the shop they need.

Yes, I do! It's a really pretty sign, I painted it myself before I got here. But I'm not going to have any customers today.

The mayor told me that, because this town is so small, most people only open their shops when they feel like it, instead of having reliable schedules. Besides, if you're friends with shop keepers, you might be able to purchase goods and services even when they aren't working!

I don't think I'm going to open today. I'd like to see the town, and make any preparations necessary for my grand opening tomorrow!

Just as I'm about to leave, there's a knock at the door. There's a little girl outside, grinning up at me.

LIZZIE: Hello! Are you new around here? My name's Lizzie! I'll show you around!

TESSA: Wow, I was just about to look around myself! But, I'm new around here. Where should I start?

LIZZIE: There's always interesting things going on in town square. I think I heard the three sisters on the way here!

She leads me outside of my shop. I notice again just how charming this town is. The little buildings are so cute, and randomly set around an open plan. The plaza areas in between are paved with cobblestones. Lizzie leads me to a huge open area, and I see three women, almost identical, performing: one telling a story, the other singing verses in between sections, and another playing a harp as accompaniment.

There are four people standing around, watching the performance. One of them I recognize as the mayor, but I've never seen any of the others before.

LIZZIE: Well, this is town square! What do you think?

TESSA: It's lovely...

LIZZIE: You want me to introduce you to everyone? Or are you shy or something?
>>

Nah, you're not shy. At least, I hope not, or else opening and running a customer based retail business all by yourself might be problematic.

Exactly!

TESSA: You should definitely introduce me.

LIZZIE: Hey, everybody! There's someone new in town!

Well... alright, that was sort of embarrassing. The three performers stop mid-sentence, and everyone turns to stare at us.

They mayor is the first to speak.

WENDY: Ahh, Tessa! I'm glad to see you out and about! Are you all settled in?

TESSA: Yes, Ma'am.

Everyone starts laughing. A large girl with very broad shoulders laughs the loudest, and claps the mayor on the back.

RHONDA: Did you hear that, Wendy? She called you Ma'am!

WENDY: You don't have to be so formal, Tessa. Just call me Wendy! Everyone does.

A girl with curly red hair nudges her way to the front.

JENNY: Give her a break, Rhonda. She's new! Hi, my name's Jenny! Welcome to Honeyside!

LIZZIE: And that's my mommy!

A chubby, grinning woman smiles warmly and pats Lizzie on the head.

DELIA: Hello. I hope Lizzie didn't give you too much trouble. She can be a handful!

TESSA: No, she was just showing me around.

DELIA: Well, in any case, I'm Delia. If you ever need a midwife, just give me a call!

TESSA: A midwife? That's wonderful! I've never actually gotten to meet a real live midwife before! The city I grew up in wouldn't allow it.

DELIA: Well, if old Preston had his way, even Honeyside wouldn't.

Jenny chuckles, staring at her shoes.

JENNY: Don't mind Dad, Delia. He's just... set in his ways.

TESSA: Who's Preston?

DELIA: The local doctor. He's good at his job, but he thinks he can do mine, too.

WENDY: Now, now, let's not stir the pot! We all have to live in this town together, best to just be friends!

The three performers, who had been watching silently until now, suddenly stand and all offer me their hands.

MOLLY: Welcome to Honeyside, Tessa. I'm Molly...

HOLLY: ....I'm Holly...

POLLY: And I'm Polly.

MOLLY/HOLLY/POLLY: We're bards.

TESSA: Yeah, I heard! You're all really good!

POLLY: Any chance we can get back to performing?

HOLLY: Don't be rude, Polly! It isn't too often we get someone new in town!

MOLLY: Besides, that story was almost finished anyway.

POLLY: So... Tessa... What are you doing in town?

TESSA: I'm opening a new magic shop! You know, providing magical services for the townsfolk.

LIZZIE: Like, real spells?

TESSA: Yep!

RHONDA: Ebony Star's gonna have a cow when she hears about this!

JENNY: She's just a psychic though, right? Are they really in competing markets?

RHONDA: Who knows? That girl changes her services almost every day! It'll be nice having a real witch in town...

WENDY: Now, now....

RHONDA: Sorry, Wendy.

TESSA: It was wonderful meeting all of you! I should probably keep exploring the town and meeting everyone.

WENDY: A wonderful idea!

LIZZIE: I'll take you anywhere you wanna go!

DELIA: That is, if your sure you wouldn't rather have a different guide.

LIZZIE: MOM!

DELIA: I'm sorry, Lizzie, but don't you have chores to do anyway, young lady? You're almost out of candles, and you said you could handle owning your own business!

LIZZIE: I know, I know! I'm super good at making candles. I'll make some tonight. You'll probably need a lot of candles for your shop, right Tessa?

TESSA: Probably...

LIZZIE: Then you just come to me! Mine are super-good and super-cheap!

DELIA: Now isn't the time to hawk your wares, Lizzie. You're not even open today! Now, Tessa has some exploration to do, and whether she wants your help or not, you listen to her, alright? You need to respect your elders a little more, Lizzie.

LIZZIE: Yes, Mom.

TESSA: It's alright, Delia. Lizzie's a really good guide! Besides, I need all the help I can get around here.

DELIA: Well, if you're really sure...

LIZZIE: See, mom? Alright, Tessa! Where do you want to go?

>>513553
TESSA: Well, I really don't know what's around here. What shops are there?

LIZZIE: Well, let me think. There's a plant shop, where Hazel sells seeds and Tony sells flowers. Beau runs a clothing store, and Phil owns the grocery store. Marvin and Mavis run the archaeology shop together...

TESSA: Archaeology shop?

LIZZIE: That's what they call it. Marvin sells antiques and Mavis sells pretty rocks and stuff. Heather's got a jewelry store, Paul sells pets, and I sell candles from my house! There's also a magic shop...

TESSA: What?

LIZZIE: Yeah! Arabella's kind of a strange old lady, but she's super-nice. She sells all kinds of magic stuff. Then there's Ebony Star's shop...

TESSA: Yeah, I heard Rhonda and Jenny talking about her. Who is she?

LIZZIE: She does psychic readings and stuff. Sometimes she even does spells for people. She's kind of mean, but she's my best customer! She always comes in to buy candles!

TESSA: Hmm... looks like I might have a rival.

LIZZIE: It's alright, Tessa. You're a lot nicer than Ebony Star. If you support local businesses and make friends with everyone, I'm sure you'll do a lot better than her!

TESSA: Good to know.

LIZZIE: So, where do you want to go?
>>

Hmm, how about the archaeology shop? Never seen one of those before.

Check out the archaeology shop. It sounds neat.
