At some point you should consider getting a captain's uniform and armor maybe to look more respectable when you are working. It could make a huge difference, but let's go get hit on by a creepy stranger and see how difficult getting him to cooperate is.

Always looking good girl, anyways we should head to find her first, afterwords we'll have the cash to go splurge on good equipment.

Ok, we head to the bar. The place is a large, circular room, with a counter that practically runs around half of the circumference, a single barnan standing behind it. The illumination is dim but functional, and the place looks pristine, with a large, industrial vending machine embed in the wall behind the counter rather than the classic approach of having the bottles on display for the customer.

Only a couple of tables are occupied, the establishment looks rather empty, considering how big it is. Who should I speak to?

Walk up to the bar. Order a beer (or the ziranee equivalent). Quietly ask the barkeep about Vdaz.
>>
No. 402696 ID: ce15d1

Barkeep is an obvious answer.

Is there a reason all these ziranee have purple crests/hair? Is that a trait of houses or something. If so, what are all the houses like for their traits?

Purple crests are one of the common phenotypic characteristics of the Czara House, just like the red frills on my head is one of the typical characteristics of the Azhue House, which I belong to. It’s only normal that most of the Ziraneés we’re encountering are members of the Czara, because we’re in the Czara Sector, after all.

We walk up to the bar counter and ask for a glass of wine. I don’t know what is “beer”, and I don’t know how I come up with these fake words.

“Excuse me, do you know where can we find Vdaz?”

The barman looks like a nervous fellow, and hesitates before answering.

“Huh... Yeah, he’s in the back. But... What do you want from him? He’s very busy and doesn’t want to be disturbed unless it’s something important.”
>>
No. 404431 ID: 99c568

private business. carry on, citizen.

wait until Vdaz finishes his drink, then approach him with a second glass of whatever he just had.

would you consider asking the Czara for help? are they cool?
>>
No. 404505 ID: 1444d5

OK, new priority: frill dye.
>>
No. 404517 ID: 0006f5

the frill configuration is also different from azhue so idk how much useful coloring it would be than just getting a hoodie / headscarf.

“Private business. Carry on, citizen.”

The barman seems rather alarmed and interrupts us. I didn’t know where Vdaz is anyways! But now I notice a door to the right side of the counter, that must lead to “the back” as the barman said. That is, if he let us go in.

“W-wait! What private business? I’m s-sorry and I don’t want to interrupt anything important, but you gotta tell me what it is about before I let you in! He’ll blame me if you waste his time, and I don’t even want to think about what happened last time that happened!”

This Vdaz guy sounds like he might not be the most helpful if we try to get information out of him. It may work better if we find someone more agreeable.

"If you don't want me to talk to Vdaz you could lead me to someone else that would be able to find a ship, or the people who where in it, that was able land here today without anyone knowing"
>>

looking for someone, and can make it worth everyones time. ask how else you can find someone by the docks or not. remind him it will be in his best interest to have a good idea that doesnt involve vdaz if he is so worried

I tell him that I need information about recent docking ships, information that the dockmaster should be able to access and I tell him that it will be worth everyone’s time. He still looks rather doubtful, so I tell him that unless he can find a way to provide that information, I’ll have to see Vdaz.

“Oh, oh! Sure! I can do it. If it’s about ships landing in this planet, just give me a few minutes and I’ll find out whatever you want. Just leave Vdaz alone, please...

Hmm, what should I do? Trust this guy and give him the description of Vela’s ship? Or just go and see Vdaz whether he likes it or not?

I give him the description of Vela’s ship, and he looks sincerely thankful that I’ve decided to deal with him instead of insisting on dealing with this Vdaz guy (maybe it’s him, maybe he’s dead and his corpse is in the back, who knows?).

He writes down the information and gives me a little disposable datapad with an address in the Hangar District 3 (Our ship is parked in the H. District 1). He says he’s gonna make some calls and meet us there in an hour with the information. If Vela’s ship has ever been in this planet, he’ll find out.

We are bound to our House by blood, flesh and honour. To hide that we belong to our House is greatly shameful, and even declared traitors will remove or alter their crests or skin patterns as a last resource. Most of us would rather be dead.

Scars and damage over the crests are fine, we respect our warriors and their dedication to the cause. Scarred crests and frills are shown with pride. Now if a Ziraneé happened to be so badly scarred to lose them completely, he’d had them surgically replaced or even kill themselves before exposing such shame.

Ok, back in the bar, I touch his hand and stare at him him awkwardly for a minute, then I ask him why is he’s so insistent about preventing me from seeing Vdaz anyways. The man seems about to have a nervous breakdown.

“I... he’s not... I mean it’s not that I’m afraid... but... please don’ t look at me like that... I don’t...”

I just let him be, not gonna get anything useful from him right now. Instead I head to the Mercenary Shop. There’s a Broken Shield office here. I approach the male at the desk and introduce myself.

“Ah yes. We’ve had a successful deal before. Do you want to hire our services again? Or are you looking for a job?

“Hmm, well, we can only trust freelancers out with support jobs. Let me see.... I can’t really make up my mind yet, but I shouldn’t be late for my appointment with the barman. So I thank the mercenary guild receptionist, I tell him that I’ll be back later and I make my way out.

We arrive half an hour earlier than expected. The address turns out to be a large warehouse in the Hangar District. The place looks abandoned, dim lit, no sight of workers, no vehicles nor ships stationed here... No sign or any clue about who owns this place. I can see the front entrance from here, and a larger door for loading purposes, I guess.

What now? Should I go in?

We sneak up inside, trying to find a light switch or something, and not finding any, trying to make it as fast as possible to the other door through the dark area. Before I can even whisper a quiet “hello” we’re suddenly blinded by the light, as someone turns it on. When we finally manage to look up, the sight isn’t pleasant, because we stare up the barrel of several weapons.

“Straight into the trap, just how I like it.”
