Discussion thread: http://tgchan.org/kusaba/questdis/res/356325.html

Rina is pissed off. She has had enough of all this. All this death, destruction, and misery are starting to take their toll on her. In replacement of sorrow, there is nothing but resentment and anger. All the lives that could've been saved had it not been for Mr. Farrow. Rina wishes more than ever that she can go back and prevent it from ever happening.

Now she is almost completely defenseless against the Darkness, but at this very moment, she could care less. Let them come, she thinks to herself, let them come so I have something to fuck right up to make me feel better. But Rina knows even that wouldn't cheer her. The only thing that could possibly make her feel good about herself would be to end all this herself, but now that asshole Harry has everything he needs to stop it. Well...Rina isn't one-hundred percent certain that is Harry's intention, now that she's seen his sporadic, violent nature. Maybe he killed Janice to eliminate a potential threat. Either way, what was left of Rina's small amount of respect she had for him was out the door.

In her peripheral vision, Rina could see Glade, eying her shyly, not sure what to say. A long drawn-out silence hung in the small room. Glade's occassional shuffling signalled she wanted badly to do something to maybe lift Rina's spirits, but Rina did not blame her for being hesitant about this. Rina doesn't think she's ever been so mad in her entire life. God, this is fucked. All of this is fucked.

But what was there to do now? If Harry is right about his intentions, she guesses they should just sit there and wait...maybe after finding Rasha and her brother.

Rina takes a quick peek back into the main church. Miles doesn't seem to be doing much. In fact, he looks a little perturbed.

Rina has already opened the wall panel.

> Alright, awesome. What's all the stuff on the little desk? And what's in the drawer?

Nothing is inside the desk drawer.

Rina discovers the smaller rectangular box is the one Glade has been carrying around. She has always been a little defensive of it. Why is she...or "She" leaving her stuff around, out in the open. Is the Demonness taunting her?

Rina then inspects the larger wooden box next to it, which looks to be some kind of REALLY old-style projector. The top of the box is cut diagonally and a picture frame is set in the hole at an angle. On the back of the box, facing Rina, is a fairly large hole, a small, shallow metal bowl sitting on the box's base.

Rina sees a bit of wax on the bowl.

Rina tests the faucet. Indeed there is still some water left. Is it water? Rina lets out a bit of the liquid onto her fingers and smells it. She then licks it. Doesn't taste strange. Must be water. She drinks some of it and she can already feel some energy returning to her.

Rina checks the box on the top of the drawer. There's more candles inside of it and a small box half-full of crackers.

> What's that on the wall?

Rina gazes at the object on the wall. It appears to be a circular stone tablet with a hole in the center, held up by a small wooden pole. The design is strange. It is split into three parts with slightly similar upside-down "U" symbols on each half. Rina feels the object is of some importance.

Those symbols look a little similar to the semicircles in the projector's image. Take the thing off the wall to check if anything's behind it, then put it back. It looks like two other slabs like it go on the rack...

Rina goes back into the main chamber and indeed there is an arrow on the painting. It doesn't look freshly drawn on there either. Something's getting to Rina's head. She inspects the symbol and it appears to be the same she's been seeing everywhere. There's nothing behind the paper either...

And about Harry. At least what she thinks of him and concerns. If we can make him stutter or stop due to shouting out about someone he cares about, maybe he'll resist his cult brainwashing?

Ask her if Black Cloak can be trusted to end this ordeal in a favorable manner.

"Look, I just want this over with. What do I need to do to stop all this?" Rina asks.

"You've just brought light of this 'demon' you speak of. It's probably the one those cultist freaks worshipped, and either way we wanted to stay clear and far away from it. We even considered leaving the village altogether, but this was our home...where we were born and raised. They began to build a church, and that didn't go well with us."

> Hmm, so like, the only reason they didn't possess your friends was because they knew for sure they were just people trying to survive? Or what? I was never clear on why our friends were never possessed and turned into husks.

One is more than able to fend off the spirits. Rina has been doing it for a while now.

"Can I trust Black Cloak to end this in a good way?" Rina asks.

"Black Cloak has always been known as a wanderer of the earth, suppressing purgatorial spirits and demons. We started looking into him, studying him. He became our own little 'god' in a sense. We knew if the cultists were allowed to proceed with their practices, they could conjure up something awful. And verily...something terrible awakened. We seeked him out for help and we learned to make the Slab. Unfortunately, that's when the cultists became too powerful and took over the entire village. They stole our Slab and then..." she stops there, looking really uncomfortable.

"What do you know and think about Harry?" Rina questions.

"Harry was neutral at first. He was a broken man with mental issues. We were concerned about it. We thought the cultists would use him and brainwash him to carry out their 'errands', and he has done so. We didn't pay much attention to him at first, but it's apparent we should have. He is more capable than we thought. He is hell-bent on finishing the cultists' work it looks like. I learned of this just recently. Other than that I don't know anything about him or his past," the female explains.

Does she know who would more about him?
Harry's a bit too smart to take on with mere numbers and guns, and we need to get the slab from him in tact first to save Glade. We need a mental edge.
Does she at least know where he was kept and brainwashed? There may be more clues there.

Alright. This seems straightforward enough, then. Tell her that Black Cloak transported you here in order to get the Slab back from Harry and destroy it so that Black Cloak could swoop in and finish things. Ask for help moving the altar you just unlocked, but warn her that she might want to stay up here to avoid being absorbed.

"Do you know who would know more about him?" Rina asks. The female sighs impatiently.

"No," she simply says. "My standing here before you indicates either two things: Harry has left the village, or he has destroyed the Slab. I'll let you go. But you must hurry."

Time seems to be restored to normal when Moth suddenly breaks into the scene and pins the female down. She hisses and screeches, writhing violently.

"Rina!" Miles shouts. He's standing at the plaque. Rina remembers that the church is gradually breaking down. She doesn't exactly want to be crushed to death.

Moth easy that's one of your followers! Supporters.
Something. Anti-Spider god at least.

Might not be Moth, remember our demon likes to shapeshift. Save the Husk!

Eh? I thought the slab was used to draw out spirits, not ward them away, aside from Moth.

Tell Moth that this one isn't an enemy anymore, then quickly ask if the slab's destroyed or Harry is just gone. Then get that slab off with the cop's help and go down.

"Moth, wait!" Rina shouts. Moth turns its view towards Rina. "She's not an enemy! At least not anymore! Is Harry gone?! Did he destroy the Slab??" Rina asks in a haste. The Moth doesn't say anything and just stares. The female wriggles underneath him.

"GO!" she gurgles. Rina steps backward a few paces and then dashes off to Miles. Together they push away the plaque and discover a decent-sized hole in which they can see the ground sloping off to staircase plunging downward. They both jump in and descend the staircase, the muffled sounds of the collapsing church growing seemingly louder. The entire place trembled and Rina struggles to keep her balance.

Finally when they reach the bottom, the noise is drowned out and the quaking is weakened more and more until there is nothing.

They stare down a long corridor, a lit torch at the other end. At the end it appears the hall branches to the right.

"Um, ladies first?" Miles whispers.

Okay. Gun up, peek around the corner as quickly as possible. Or if we have anything reflective, use that.

Rina makes a lip-zipping gesture and pulls out her pistol. Together, the two walk down the hallway, completely aware.

Rina peeks around the corner. Further down the dirt walls become overlapped by metal plates. A lying figure is sprawled on the ground.

Rina slowly approaches the figure. It's Glade! Rina feels her heart beat and she quickens her pace.

"Hey, be careful," Miles says. But just as Rina is within a few paces from Glade, a vapor suddenly spews from the ceiling, filling the hall alarmingly fast. Rina feels the effects of the gas immediately, coughing and feeling her entire chest tense up. Within seconds, she is out cold.

"You dumb bitch. I fucking told you to stay away didn't I? Well, if you think about it, your disobedience has set the path for Her ritual to be complete. I win either way. I didn't want this for you, but you've chosen your path. Now there is nothing I can do. The Slab's gone...but it's okay. The Demonness has decided not to just kill you outright...and what a shame that is. For you I mean.

But God, to just toss away this gorgeous body like it was nothing? I'm going to die very soon. I don't know if you figured that out yet. I mean...why not live my final moments in the best way I can think of, with the little I have at this time?

You're not something 'little' though... oh no. I can't...mpff...offer you up just yet. It's okay though. Unf...you've...agh...you still have a ways to go. I can't give you a very comfortable experience before your peril...but...ungh...GOD...

I am one lucky guy...Do you think so?"
