Ohhh, and has she gotten any threats? Ones which she wouldn't mind having an Enforcer living nearby to deal with? Or is she hoping to rob you in your sleep? Hmm? Here's a tip, that last one, that's not gonna work.

Yeah, that's rough. She clean now?

Anyway Ai's really helped you out. Pay for her coffee. Does she want anything to go with it? Feels bad eating all these pancakes while she just has her coffee. And insist on paying rent.

Also tell the waitress to leave the syrup.

Remember, this is just some stranger we met on the street. And now, apparently one that's brushed against the underworld. Be careful of what you mention, just in case they're an informant for your quarry. Crime often wears a friendly face, after all. ...even still, keep up appearances and don't be rude or anything.

Also, what's your topping of choice? Butter and syrup? Chocolate syrup? Fruit and whipped cream? Fruit-based syrup? I understand applesauce is good on pancakes...

even if Vixxan was interested in lesbian sex, she's not sure if she would have time to lollygag while on the hunt.

>has she gotten any threats?
Vixxan needs to make sure to ask Ai when the moment's right. she doubts anybody would have any dark intentions toward her, but if they did, Vixxan could certainly set them straight.

>this is just some stranger we met on the street. And now, apparently one that's brushed against the underworld. Be careful of what you mention.
Vixxan makes a mental note not to be too forward with information, even with Ai.

Vixxan digs into the gooey sugary mass immediately. Ai just sits there quietly as the Treuclean stuffs her face.

"is that going to be an issue?" Ai asks finally, "I-I'm a convicted drug dealer..."

Vixxan swallows, "not my department. I'm just here on assignment."

"besides," Vixxan squeezes Ai's hand affectionately, "you're not doing it anymore, right?"

she averts her gaze, retracting her hand, "right..."

"and if you're abiding the law now then what you did in the past shouldn't matter." Vixxan says between bites, "you seem like a good person to me, but even good people can get mixed up in shady business sometimes."

"...I'm not really that good, honestly." she sighs, "just an other dreg doing what I gotta do to eat and stay off the streets, I guess."

"I don't believe that for a second." Vixxan says, "anyway, I'd love to see the docks, if you have the time."

she scratches her neck nervously, "er well... like I said, I need to be at work soon. I can show you where the precinct is after work."

sure thing! I need to get situated before I talk to them anyway. where are you working?"

"call center." she blurts out quickly, "a uhm... tech support call center. I help people get communications devices working again. sometimes personal issues too. that's what I mostly do, but I also do some artwork commissions for the

city."

"you're an artist?" Vixxan smiles, "must be exciting."

"not really." she sighs, "I just paint butterflies and flowers and shit for banks to hang up in their lobbies and forget about."

Vixxan sips her coffee as Ai fidgets around in her chair.

"uh, anyway," the Cheleri coughs, "you want to go see the house or something?"

"you haven't touched your drink yet." Vixxan says.

"oh." she looks down at the cup, then overturns the steaming drink into her mouth and quickly gulps in down.

"here, let me pay for-" Vixxan begins, but Ai waves her hand dissmissively as she throws a handful of credits on the table.

"let's just go home." she mutters.

the two of them leave the Cafe, and go on walking down the street, and gradually the streets start to look more and more seedy. Ai is quiet, well, she doesn't talk, at least. Vixxan is getting worried, hearing Ai's rough breaths.

she wonders if she should talk to the Cheleri, or just keep quiet until she gets to Ai's house.

>Maybe she's leading you into an alley for an ambush. Have you picked up a tail?
Vixxan hasn't made it this far as a an Enforcer without developing a healthy paranoia. she's been planning for a possible ambush since she touched down, though she doubts Dia has anything to do with it. if Dia thought she was being tracked she'd have packed up and moved on by now. she hopes for Ai's sake this isn't a set up, though.

>She was lying about her job, for sure.
Vixxan doesn't doubt it. Ai has a terrible poker face.

Ai eventually stops at a house. it looks pretty nice considering the area. the yard is well maintained, the siding is worn, but not stripped. all the windows are still intact.

"here we are." she mutters, "the casa de... fucking... whatever."

she stumbles to the front door and leans against it while she digs in her hoodie's pocket for her keys. Vixxan eyes the inside of her muffler and sees a small cache of pain killers. Ai unlocks the door and walks in, leaving the door open for Vixxan.

as she enters the small house, she takes a quick look around. it's pretty bare. the dining table is quite small, but there are several chairs around it, and more sitting against the wall. the kitchen is only a few feet away, stocked surprisingly heavily with utensils and appliances. the living room is almost as small as the dining room, with a single couch and a television set playing some children's programming. between the two rooms, Vixxan spots a hallway leading into the back of the house. likely the bedrooms and baths are down there.

Emma, the Hyz, starts grinning at Ai, who turns away to the door, "she's just staying here for a while, ok? I'll be late for work if I don't get going."

she stands by the door for a minute and speaks quietly to Vixxan, "I'll be back home in a few hours... you're going to be ok here?"

"you have a daughter?" Vixxan asks.

"yeah, I should have mentioned that, sorry. is that going to be a problem?"

"no I love kids! it's just... I thought you said you were...?"

"it's a long story." she replies, "anyway if you're cool, I need to go."

"yes," Vixxan nods, "thanks again!"

"yeah." Ai replies shortly, and then closes the door.

Emma smiles back, "so you're Ai's new friend, huh?"

"I suppose so!" Vixxan replies obliviously.

she leans back into the cushion of the couch and yawns, stretching, "cool. cool. I hope it goes well for ya. Ai's been kind of a C-word since Sam packed up."

Emma takes an other look at Vixxan, "is that an Enforcer badge? is it real?"

"yep!" Vixxan nods, "Detective Blu, at your service."

"huh... ok." she replies nonchalantly, but Vixxan can tell she's nervous to be so close to an Enforcer. that doesn't necessarily mean she's a criminal, plenty of average folks get clammy when they realize they're talking to a cop.

"how long have you known Ai?"

"years. since we were in school. I was there when she was with Kal's uh... when she had Kal, I mean."

just a paint roller. from what she can tell, these paintings are the ones Ai was talking about. Ai mentioned she was a painter earlier, saying she took commissions from local businesses for wall hangings, though Vixxan doubts that anyone commissioned the one of the tree... perhaps that's a more personal piece.

>examine painted wall
Vixxan runs her fingers down the smooth surface of the primer. it looks like someone planned to paint the whole room in this pastel pink color, Vixxan assumes it was Sam. only the one wall has primer on it. Vixxan supposes that means whatever caused this Sam character to move out was sudden.

>Check out how comfy the bed is, first of all.
the bed is very comfy. it's one of those micro foam mattresses that feels like heaven. good morning Detective Blu. the robotic voice greets her as the display loads up.

"load up Enforcer files." Blu replies shortly, "I need a full dossier on Dia Belosi, and start voice recording."

acknowledged. recording beginning now.

"ok let's see what we got... Dia Belosi, Havokin, aged 34. she used to be an Enforcer... interesting."

Vixxan thumbs through the display, expanding images of the outlaw.

"she was removed from duty because of failing eyesight. after that, it looks like she had a couple of quiet years, until she was arrested for a string of misdemeanors; shoplifting, pickpocketting, minor theft. she went full outlaw after that. a couple of stints of bank robbery, theft of a cargo ship... and the murder of an Enforcer. she's been laying low since then, but any time one of our guys gets close to her he ends up dead and she ends up gone again..."

Vixxan ponders the profile for a bit. the only photos on file are from several years ago, when Dia was on the force. Vixxan can already see the beginnings of Dia's eye infection in these images. she continues to think aloud.

"none of her crimes before the murder of the Enforcers were violent. it was all for money. I wonder if that is important to her psych profile? she may have been hard up for cash after she was removed from the force, and took to illicit means in order to make ends meet. it should also go without saying, her time with the Enforcers likely made her more savvy to our methods of law enforcement. though, her eyesight... how is she able to dispatch trained Enforcers half blind? the reports mention that they were shot. maybe she's got accomplices. there's no mention of them in any of these reports. the Enforcers that weren't put in the ground never got a solid lead on her before she escaped."

>Maybe use your communicator and run a background check on all the people living here?

"...load up a new criminal record. Cheleri Ayexcexti. unknown clan. search local records."

the communicator loads up three persons, one of which is certainly her host. Vixxan selects her and reads the report, which is quite short.

"Cheleri Uwaxtect Ayexcexti. 12th of 15 siblings, aged 22. served on the Waltae Front as a medic. honorably discharged after she was injured on the field. she's been... unemployed since then? hm... it looks like she's been picked up for... possession of a controlled substance, some petty theft, and... attempted murder? it looks she was released for that one, but that's still way more than what she told me."

Vixxan tries to look for more, but it seems the records for the local Enforcers are incomplete. maybe they have more at the local branch. Vixxan was planning to visit them anyway, it might be worth her time to investigate.

"ok. my next move should be..." she thinks on it for a moment, "my next move should be to get something to eat, but after THAT..."

>try the local arms dealers.

If she killed them herself, then she could've gotten close enough to them that she couldn't miss. Or if she didn't want to risk missing, she would've used a knife or something.

>maybe she's got accomplices. there's no mention of them in any of these reports.
Then maybe she's working alone?

Or someone is going through a lot of effort to keep her from meeting any Enforcers?

Could it be possible that she's being forced to do these crimes? Because suddenly jumping from pickpocketing to murder is unusual. Maybe someone had kidnapped someone that Dia cares about and threatened to kill them if Dia didn't obey?

.....yeah, that's a bit of a stretch, but it could be possible. Look up any family/friends/lovers that Dia had and see if any/all of them have gone missing around the same time she jumped from misdemeanors to major crimes.

are their cybernetics or other types of surgery someone could have to fix their eyes? Just a theory at this point but maybe she went somewhere to fix her eyes but didn't have the money to pay them back thous the crimes. Might have gotten disparate enough that she went from petty crimes to the piece of work we have now? Regardless she's dangerous and we're going to have to be extremely careful when we get around to try to apprehend her.

Also run a quick background check on everyone else living here just to see if any of them have any surprises that we should know about then go ask them if they know any good spots to eat. Since we're going to be running around might as well find out about a good place to grab some decent food.

Probably best to just assume she has some means to target and not underestimate her.

>still way more than what she told me
I mean the cops who arrested her could have been dead wrong about the attempted murder? Could have been a big mixup. It was dropped, after all.

Doesn't seem like she would have invited a cop she just met to stay over if she had something actively going on to hide. And seriously, unless she does something blatantly illegal while you're here, or an active warrant is posted for her arrest, she's not your jurisdiction anyways.
