You're an androgynous Aarakocra

Honestly, it's hard to know what gender your species is anyway. With no need for breast feeding the usual tells are missing.

This may be your first adventure, but you're no stranger to battle. How do you fight? And do you fight alone?

You are a Mage. The kind people suspect (rightly) for unnatural witchcraft.
Seriously, have you never even checked yourself? Did it hurt when that dwarf kneed you? That's kind of an important thing to know for a partner.
Speaking of partners, they are the rolled class.

We mainly fight at range with a bow and arrow. We also have a sword to fight when the enemy get close to us.

We usually end up in a team when we fight.

you travel alone, it makes sights of nature much better, but you keep in touch of friends.

you use stealth, misdirection, and diversion,
you think ahead and listen to your surroundings,
when you are detected, you can run one direction
and when the line of sight is broken run another
createing an "illusion" thinking ahead is your only advantage.
(suggestion) something i think we can play well off of, (so what if we have to run around a corner for a single encounter?) you learned the hard way you cant argue with a crowed, people aren't rational, and self interest often trumps truth. your use of stealth is neutral "why can't a hero use stealth" you daydreamed to yourself in childhood.

You're a mage.

Like a real cliché, your magical focus is the school of air. You fly faster, further, and more skillfully than you ever could without your studies. You are small and fragile, but you have a true adventure's spirit.

You've lived your whole life on the same island. A sprawling city filled with only magic users under the protection of a spell that covered the whole island in a dome. All races and backgrounds are here, new magic users appearing all the time. There is some unrest, some citizens that wish to leave and venture out into the wilderness - but over all life here is simple. Easy.

Your partner in crime is Agatha.

While you were hatched and raised here, Agatha was not as fortunate as you. She was a part of a tribe of elves in the wilderness. A tribe where magic had not touched one of their people in a length of time that was long even for an elf.

It honestly should have come to no surprise that when her powers began to manifest the wild elves would respond drastically. They tried to cure her. She never told you more, just that she had fled here. Though she is blind you still see her shy away from others of her species with a look of distain on her lips.

You've only seen her once like this.

That's more like it.

She's quite shy about her scars. Don't draw attention to it.

Agatha is your companion and the two of you have been inseparable since she arrived. This is the big day though, the two of you have been talking about this for years it feels like. But it's finally time. Your adventure starts today.

In the excitement, you've almost forgotten what the plan is:

- We've come of age, of course. The plan is to attend the ritual and then move into our respective positions as adults.
- We're leaving the city. There must be more out there, Agatha's stories of the outside world have been making you want to leave the nest for a while now.
Actually, you have a new plan…

We want to leave the nest. We wanna go out there and see the sights- ooh. Sorry Agatha. I mean, We're going to look for a- hmm. Er, that is, we're gonna get a new perspective on- fffff.

We are going a very far distance away.

Adventure await!
As much as you love the safety and advance comforts of your city it's stale and competitive. By taking risks on the lawless lands you can make your luck, something you are not confident you can do here.

By a combination of pure chance, managerial incompetence, and a general hubris of civilization, you have found a single strand from a single patch of a great tapestry of a very special game. A game played by kings and criminals, the sport of the world and yet invisible to the highest seats of authority.

The Great Game. Politics at its finest madness. And you intend to rip your way into its ranks. Starting now, with a simple whisper of a hint about a convoy carrying an artifact so dangerous, it has to be shipped through a freaking dungeon. In fact, the plan is for the army of mercenaries to raid a dungeon, kill everything that moves, and leave the treasures intact so the next group of adventurers to explore won't look a gift horse in the mouth. If you can intercept the convoy while they're busy mowing down enemies and prisoners, or warn the inhabitants of the dungeon of the incoming raid, you just might make a shockwave.

We specialize in wind, but what about Agatha?

Agatha? Agatha is… special.

All mages like you have the very essence of magic coursing through your veins - but not like Agatha does. You've never seen the full extent of her powers. But even glimpses make you a little… uneasy.

Even though this is her specialty, your companion prefers more organic forms of magic. She considers herself a botanist, studying the druidic schools. She's always missed the massive forests she came from.

You're leaving the nest.

Neither of you know of a single mage that has chosen to leave the island. Why would you? The people outside are not always so understanding of your gifts. Either way, you know of two ways off the island.

Do you teleport to the mainland or go by boat?

Or...do you try something else?

You're a mage. Think something up.

How about a combination of dummy boats, connected to a hang glider? You use magic to move the ships around from the safety of the hang glider.
>>
No. 835562 ID: 2fe26a

Teleportation's faster, so there's less time for mishaps to occur. Either you'll miss your destination slightly or you won't have to worry what went wrong - because you'll be dead.

You go by boat

You've never been on a boat, and you're a little nervous about seasickness, but between this and the unstablness of teleportation… Boat seems like the best choice by far. Besides, your control of air will help with the voyage.

The two of you come upon the singular port of your island. A grand ship is tethered there, rocking slowly back and forth in the waves. The sea air ruffles your feathers and you have to hold your hood in place while you walk.

There's an older looking dwarf standing on the dock.

He stares ahead, toward you and beyond toward the shoreline, fingers wrapped lazily around his staff. You barely notice him as you move forward toward the boat, looking for someone from the crew to find when they were leaving for the mainland.

A staff whizzes through the air in front of your face and you freeze in place. Just an inch or so further back and you would have been cracked over the skull. You don't see, but feel Agatha tensing up behind you. Your own feathers stand on end under the hood, startled.

You look downward to the end of the staff and see the dwarf looking up at you.

"Where do you think you're going?"

His voice is gruff and monotone. The eyes that look up at you are rimmed by bags and sun-wrinkled flesh. The sleeves are ripped from his shirt and hairy arms bulging with muscle are exposed where they used to be. He eyes you and Agatha, assessing you.

"We're heading to the mainland." Agatha murmurs from behind you.

The dwarf snorts and shakes his head, retracting his staff. But did he just take a step between you and the ship…?

"What reason do you have to go to the mainland? Who gave you permission to make that trip? Do you have fare for transport?" He snorts again and shakes his head once more. Another step between you and freedom. "You kids need to rethink this plan."

Now he stands solidly between you and the ship, his arms cross loosely over his broad chest

What do you do?
>>
No. 836028 ID: 3ce125

Of course you planned all that out! Why it'd be silly to try to get onto a boat without fare. As for permission, it's fine it's just a vacation. You're gonna go out and do a tour of some of the major cities to gain perspective on the state of the world and your place in it.
