Hello World! You may know that we have here a tgchan Minecraft server. It operates with a FTB modpack. What I want to say here, is you can and should build some interesting things. I invite you to the Castle Contest! The goal is to build the best, most stylish fortress you can muster.
Also, I have only gotten this half planned out, so some discussion in general would be appreciated. Thank you.

To whoever put Item Tesseracts everywhere to automatically send stuff from our machines to the ME network: please replace them all with Ender Chests with the yellow, yellow, yellow dye pattern. A full-yellow Ender Chest will be drained directly into the ME network. This is superior to an Item Tesseract because Item Tesseracts can only be safely moved by the person who placed them!

Also uh we have 32k blaze rods in storage now. I don't think we needed the blaze farm's overflow to be sent into the ME system. I think Seven did that? I mean, yeah, blaze rods are nice, but if this had continued for much longer it would've filled our entire storage system. Gonna have to make a DSU for them now.

Okay false alarm, item tesseracts placed by others can be removed via pick just fine.

Still don't know where the reactor went. The blocks are not a concern- the contents are.

contents? if you mean uranium and stuff, I cna probably dig up a bunch of that if you gave me time to go spelunking for it

just list what you need yo

Also, I really really think we should build a city
an actual city, too. I am thiking of making full-size apartment buildings to start with, perhaps a butchers, a town hall...
I am already thinking up designs for the first on that list, I'd just need someone to help me gather all the brick blocks and wood I'd need for the frames. I'll be going for a sort of classical township sort of look for everything, so I'll need a lot of all sorts of bricky things to make it all look right.
Anyone feel up for helping me with this venture?

It's not the fuel rods that are hard to replace; It's everything else that goes in there to keep the reactor from turning into ground zero of a huge radioactive crater. If I remember correctly, that reactor only had about eight or nine fuel rods in the lower right corner, with every other part filled with cooling components. And the galling thing is NONE OF THEM STACK. So making them is annoying as hell.

>>24490
I'm more interested in the mechanical systems than aesthetics, so I'll pass on helping with that directly. I can say you can get clay for your bricks by using a minium stone combined with four gravel in a crafting grid. It'll convert the gravel to clay, and wear the minium stone down a bit. There's spare minium stones in the entrance chests; Bottom row, second from the left.

Sweet, thanks man
Also I do plan on installing a sort of massive warehouse structure connected to a wastebasket system in the apartment
a sort of "lost and found" sorta thing
I also might try to install a written-book-and-piping-based communications network between home base and town hall, that could be pretty damn neat. All I'd need is some teleporter pipes and some instructions on how to put it all together, right?
I'll be starting with the apartments though, first and foremost as always haha

And as for making the colling parts, tell me the things needed and I can make up a double chest full of the things by day's end, more than likely.

I want to help!

If you have some gold and diamonds I would reccomend setting up a steve's carts treefarm. That will net you infinite logs, and with a minum stone, infinite all the other important things. Clay too if I remember right.

This is part of the lobby area, purely decorative tbh but is meant to resemble a sort of book keeping sorta deal. The only thing that might actually be of use here is the one-way blast doors and the lost and found chest. there will later be a way down on either side of these rooms that will lead to the boilers and generators and such things.

To whoever took the ME level emitters off the ME export buses on the fermenter: They were there to keep them from sucking all the wheat and cane out of ME storage. Just 'cause you don't use cane or wheat for anything doesn't mean everybody else doesn't. Leaving a buffer of 1024 cane and 4096 wheat in the ME storage isn't too much to ask.

what the heck is going on with that
>>

Is it crashing during use, or between uses? If between, it just turns off when nobody is on- trying to connect, canceling, then trying to connect again would take care of that.
>>
No. 24510 ID: b53faa

>>24509
no, its crashing while in use. I thankfully managed to get my renovations of a villiage done before it happened again, but the first time it lost a ton of data and long story short I had to rebuild half a villiage twice.

According to balls, it was caused by something being placed that shouldnt have been or something along those lines, and for once I know for a FACT it wasnt me what did it.

I still would really like to know where the reactor went.
The components are not the problem, not even all the nonstackable stuff. That can be replaced in a few hours, maybe less than one. The problem is that unless one of the other people that played at the very beginning comes back on and recreates it I will be experimenting with layouts until I find the one that works.

And experimentation is dangerous.

I made warded stone and glass- it's in the thaumcraft chest. Make a secure chamber for it. If it blows up, no big deal. Nothing gets past those blocks!

Just be sure that any openings, like for wires or a door, have a second shield past them. Explosions radiate in rays, not pressure waves, so as long as you can't see anything but warded stone/glass, it's a safe room.

Ok, set up 3 reactors, one for doing the quad uraniums, one for doing thorium/plutonium, and one for breeding cells. Once we've burned up the quad Uraniums I'll retool that reactor for the thorium/plutonium.
Please do not edit, change, move, replace, or otherwise tamper with them unless it's to replace cells. They are perfectly stable, even if the breeder will look like it's on fire most of the time.
Just don't put flammables near it.

Considering the breeder reactor that exploded didn't seem to leave any radiation at all, I don't think we have anything to worry about there.

Run the FTB Launcher and choose FTB Ultimate, then connect to mc.tgchan.org. You don't need to specify a port.

I dont know how to make it stop and I am really worried this shit is gonna make it so I will never be able to use the server again

Also, I have an idea for our first actually tgchan related thing:
I was thinking we start building out some of the locations from the quests, such as muschio's mountain home, or perhaps the hotel from nan-quest or even the metal glen.
As it is the smallest of these, I am thinking we should start with the mountain home thing and work from there. Gonna need a lot of help shaping the mountain, though.
>>
No. 24581 ID: 88abfb

You want to do that in a pocket dimension, or would you rather do it in the overworld?
>>
No. 24586 ID: b53faa

>>24581
If we can get some normal-ish terrain going, then another dimension would probably be prefferable. I am gonna need a sizeable mountain up there, with enough flat bits to work in the rivers and forests and towns and junk later.
I'm going for a multiple-location type thing, after muschio's place I'm gonna be making the tower.
As for the hotel, THAT one is gonna need a LOT of creative thinking to make it suitably freaky. I am thinking a sort of randomized redstone timer on the lights, pistons, some rather creative uses of portals... generally this is gonna be one HELL of a thing to plan out, haha, which is why I am hoping to save it for last.
>>
No. 24593 ID: b53faa

(by "normal" I mean standard terrain generation, not full-onflatlands. I guess I need a sort of plains biome I guess? interspersed with forests and mountain ranges and the like)

One of the reactors in the spawn base blew yesterday, removing a chunk of the mountain and taking most of the base with it, including all of the material storage. So Dylan rolled everything back to the last backup, which was four days previous, except for the new machine room which was way far away. It was kinda an emergency so the revert went in without everybody's input.

Still don't know what cause the reactor to go up like that. The designs used in them are laid out specifically so they don't blow up. I suspect somebody fucked with them without knowing what they were doing.
>>
No. 24608 ID: f2c20c

I think there is just something horribly wrong.

The new machine room refuses to chunkload, so right now someone has to be there at the massfab or like 99% of our power generation (the fusion reactor) goes to waste. Also all our fusion-related machines are in the machine room so eventually the fusion reactor will run out of stuff to fuse.

>>
No. 24610 ID: b53faa

Aight, just a notice: I am gonna be building up a MASSIVE grand terminal for the future railway network I'll be hooking up near the base.
When I say big, I mean it is gonna be a multi-level monstrosity of glass and stone. It's gon be AWESOME.
Also, I will need someone to help me move the blaze farm somewhere so it isnt marring the landscape so badly. Seriously, that thing is almost CRINGE INDUCINGLY hideous.

The server rolled back AGAIN. Fuck this. I'm done.

No. 24613 ID: f2c20c

By which I mean I am actually done. The base is basically fully kitted out. It's got a water-powered Fusion Reactor, a supercharged golem-harvested farm, power supplies based on practically every method of generating it...

I mean, the only stuff left to do is make it all fully automated, or make a second fusion reactor just to fuse full time using the power from the first (kinda pointless though since the LESU storage is enough to make like 1000 iridium on its own). I was going to make an XP/Ghast Tear/Minium Shard/Gunpowder farm by adding a melee turtle and some brains in jars to the ghast farm we have, and I was going to solve the problem of remotely supplying MJ to the new machine room by setting up a turtle-operated Redstone Cell recharging station and delivery service. It would entail using Gate Reader Engineering Turtles to be able to tell when they are full/empty and remove the cells properly so that they could then be put in ender chests to be transported to either destination.

I guess it could also use a better tree/apple farm, but it's not like we even need the biofuel bonus anymore from juice. The supercharged farm could probably support the combustion engines we have on its own.

But that can wait for the next pack. I suggest we close this sucker up and get Tekkit installed instead of FTB. This time could people please not mess with machines they don't understand?

Yeah, I can get behind archiving the FTB server and switching over to Tekkit. It'll be good to start all over again. And this time, there won't be a bazillion GT centrifuges lagging up everything. Plus, I hear there was a major graphics lag reduction fix in 1.5.1 Forge, so that'll be good.

>>24616
Surprisingly this time around it wasn't the nuclear reactors exploding. The server died suddenly, and since auto-saving is broken in this server version for some fuckin' reason it rolled back to the last manual save. The broken auto-save is yet another reason to switch to Tekkit. It's disheartening to have anywhere from hours to days of work wiped out because the server shat itself to death.

I found out someone had already programmed exactly what I was going to code for the energy cell recharge system. I managed to copy the code and get halfway through actually putting down all the infrastructure for it before my internet basically stopped working entirely.

Someone else can do it.
>>
No. 24619 ID: f2c20c

>>24618
To be more clear:
the code is in a floppy on the disk drive next to One of the already-placed turtles in the old machine room (now the power junction room I guess)
You'll have to copy the code over to each turtle individually then run it on each one. The ones in the power junction room should run "RECCharger in". Then, I assume, the ones being placed in the MJ/HV section of the new machine room should run "RECCharger out". The ender chests in the MJ/HV room should have the red-red-white on top, and red-white-white on the bottom, as that's the reverse of the ones in the power junction room.

I don't know how well the turtles handle reboots. They probably need to be told to run their programs again, at the very least. They probably won't lose the code, but if you destroy them they WILL lose code, unless they're labeled beforehand- the command for that is "label name" where name is replaced with whatever you wanna name the turtle. I think each turtle needs a unique label. I know you can set up a startup script to make them run programs automatically after a reboot, I'm just not sure what the particulars of that are.
>>
No. 24621 ID: f2c20c

>>24619
...come to think of it, it would be nice if you could label multiple turtles the same thing, as that would probably cause them to always carry the same code just like ender chests do. In this case you'd want to label the "in" turtles one thing and the "out" turtles another.

Though I wonder how that would even work? When you label a new turtle, would the new turtle's code overwrite previous ones, or would previous ones overwrite the new one?
>>

Actually, upon thinking about it... I agree with the idea of a change. Why? because whatever dang seed we've got right now, lord KNOWS it is a boring one.

At first I was all for switching to the new Tekkit but then after poking around in it a little bit I realized that this new version is pretty barren comparatively to FTB and even Tekkit Classic, at five pages in NEI compared to the 15 pages in FTB and 11 in Tekkit Classic it. I'm all for reducing redundant mods but the new Tekkit is simply too small in my opinion to provide a varied experience for everyone even if in the end Seven somehow gets to endgame stuff within a week of a new world being made.

So basically my opinion of a ideal modpack is a happy in between FTB, with its many redundant mods, and the new Tekkit, with its relative barrenness, that is not Tekkit Classic because we already have that and nobody seems to play on it anymore and being outdated and all, but aside from the ideal I'm fine if the server continues using the FTB pack over Tekkit.

Yeah, I had the same feeling when I checked out Technic. There's some good stuff in there, but not enough to offset the lack of stuff overall. I think it's going to get more mods, but it's going to take awhile for them to be updated to MC 1.5.1.

Did you check out Tekkit Lite? Never played it, but from its mod list page it appears to have more mods in it than the current Technic pack, but not as many as FTB Ultimate. Unfortunately it's based on Minecraft 1.4.7, so the mods are somewhat out of date, but so are the ones in the FTB Ultimate pack so it wouldn't be too different from now.

There's also a huge mess of user made modpacks available through the Technic Platform that I haven't even looked at. Maybe there's one in there we could use? Perhaps even roll our own private TGchan pack?

And now, after three separate wipes, the Glass Tunnel train depot is FINALLY ready to be furnished.
Someone please force a save on the server, I dont wanna be losing this thing again.

(I also rebuilt the pathway and made the autofarm thing less claustrophobic, as well as installing a book-based message board.)

I noticed something interesting is that my base seemed to have saved fine but the spawn base looks like it reverted to a earlier state. I have a suspicion that it may have something to do with the chunk-loaders although this is just a guess.

So, upon visiting my wip wizard tower I realized this whole thing is a localized event. It seems that the only place things are fucking up (at least, massively so) is at home base.
My guess is that it is the chunk loaders, and as with most tech issues I think turning it off then on might fix the problem.
>>
No. 24675 ID: b0d1a8

might be a good idea to look into getting a plugin that force saves the map with chunkloaders

That is most DEFINITELY a great idea. I'll even help look into that, as I really want this shit to stop. I dont want to be rebuilding the base entryway every goddam time I come online.

Also, as an addendum, I plan on adding the general times most of yall will be on to the recordbook I have at my home base, so if you guys could post that it would be a big help.

The halfway point of the wizard's tower has been reached. Just four more levels to go, and if all goes well this is gonna be able to serve as an all-in-one thaumcraft research and instruction center, complete with beds, wizard staves, and all sorts of neato little goodies. I even have plans for an obsidian testing annex going off of one of the little tower dealies for the more explosive magics!
In short: I am a huge nerd but look at this cool thing I made in a video game

thats gonna be a job, but it IS doable. Fill it up with dirt, first off. Leave a one-block recess for where you want the water to stop, then fill it up layer by layer.
You can, of course, leave it at just the one layer, but I reccomend not doing that as it will make it a bitch getting out if you fall in.

Research AND instruction? Will there be a library with bookshelves of written books? That would make me super impressed.

Would also be handy to have a reference, to know what to study, in addition to sources of hard to find aspects.

We have a bit of an emergency over in home base. Namely, we are completely out of power. The storage network is inaccessable.
>>
No. 24690 ID: f9753d

Temporarily remove less vital parts of the system? Build a backup emergency generator?

I was kind of under the impression there was infinite power forever. Try sticking a buildcraft power block on your control unit.
>>
No. 24692 ID: b0d1a8

The problem that I found was that the ME system is powered by the magmatic engines and is on a completely separate power system from the fusion reactor. The way that Redstone energy conduits works is that it divides power evenly between all machines even if one machine requires more power then another source, for example the high draw of the ME system versus the low draw of the BuildCraft powered machines.

I fixed the problem by disconnecting the conduits to just about everything except the ME system so the quarries and stuff probably aren't working now.
>>
No. 24694 ID: c24a8d

Yeah, stick an off switch on the ME system so things can recharge. And then stick off switches on everything else, just in case. Just build a room, and fill it with levers that wirelessly turns anything and everything off. Plus a "lava everywhere" lever, just in case.
>>
No. 24696 ID: b53faa

>>24694
I can very feasably build a "burn everything" switch into the mountain base if I can get ahold of a few bridge blocks and maybe be taught how pumps work
just a big sphere of lava stored in a wall up top, and when you hit a lever it just
shoves the lava into the landscape
no more problems with evil mobs ever
(I aint starting jack shit until the chunk saving glitch is all fixed, tho.)
>>
No. 24697 ID: f2c20c

>>24692
Last time I saw the conduit system, the magmatics AND the boilers were powering all the TE machines along with the e-tesses and ME storage, and shoving power into the main energy bridge too.

Hmm. Thinking about it, the only thing that changed before the ME system started having trouble was the biofuel setup. It's probably running a greater percentage of the time, so there's more power draw... and there are like 15 machines involved there.

Also the blaze rod boiler got shut off, so there's less power to go around in general.

What, exactly, did you disconnect? Since you didn't mention the boilers I assume you didn't actually trace all the conduits, so you proooobably disconnected something important.

New idea for an industrialcraft addon, another sort of generator. It involves a cat, and toast.

New cat reactor may or may not be powered by either fish or sticky resin.

I just realized that if the me system is down then the fusion reactor would also be down because it draws the fuel from the me system. so that means everything in spawn base is fucked.
>>
No. 24722 ID: b53faa

>>24716
ok but I thought the fusion reactor was free infinite energy or some shit?
also I tested it, and the zappy thing aint zappin when you step on it.
>>
No. 24723 ID: f2c20c

>>24722
The fusion reactor is unlimited only in that the machines creating the deuterium etc use less energy than the reactor generates. It still requires fuel, and without the ME system running it won't get any fuel.
>>
No. 24724 ID: f2c20c

Alright, the fusion reactor's running again and there's fuel and lava again too. I hooked up the reactor EU output to the ME Controller so it will never go down ever again.

Seven turned the oil fabs back on so there's fuel in the quantum tank now. Upon realizing that the oilfabs use a massive amount of EU and produce way more oil than we need, I then turned most of them off.

I hatched an idea in my mind. We can make a Mail system through item tesseracts which deliver items between different ME systems. The spawn base already has a thing that can receive all it needs now is a way to send it and a place to send it to.

I don't believe we have any remote communication via any of our mods, so we can't do that.

Typically people access ME remotely like that by having Logistics Pipes, linking a Remote Orderer to a Provider Pipe attached to an Ender Chest, and carrying the matching Ender Pouch around with the remote. Then you can just ask the remote for stuff and it shows up in your pouch.

We don't have Logistics Pipes though.
