I look in the direction opposite to the monster and or statue, just to be safe.

The tunnel opens up to a large chamber filled with water. An underground pool, if you will. I can't quite make out the other end, but I could easily check it out by freezing a path across.

Welp, the bad news is, that wasn't a rock that the hat was on. The good news is, I'm pretty sure one of the laws of the universe is that things that wear hats have to be intelligent. Rock doesn't float and the other side is rather far away. Platform takes two elements to manipulate and advances in a pace that is slower than walking.
While I'll never run out juice, so to speak, I would eventually get tired from mystically flailing my arms around. To summarize, magic's effectiveness on a situation boils down to the amount of hand-waving I have to make.
