Just ask her up front. Explain that a person has gone missing and you're investigating her since no one else seems to care. Even if she hates you passionately, she's still a cop and shouldn't be willing to let innocent people get hurt just to spite you.

If she is, well, you can just blackmail her with that info for everything you can squeeze out of her.

You know what they say about prisons; it's a matter of who's trapped with who. And something tells me Hannelore intentionally threw herself into the penal system for a year. Mainly, the first-degree murder charge being DROPPED. How could a juvenile get charged with first-degree, let alone get it removed without high connections?

There are a number of reasons why a professional operative would intentionally get themselves arrested. 1) White-Collar prisons have top-notch security 2) and heavy obscurity to keep the heat off from assassins, 3) Blue-Collar prisons have some of the most well-informed and infamous gang bosses in the universe 4) and nobody cares when they die in there, 5) It's the easiest way to send a covert message without getting assassinated, 6) And the hardest way to force someone back into a life they don't want.

woah, woah, woah, hold up. What this about a murder charge? Also look at who her old friends were. We might have found a motive as to why she was kidnapped here.
>>
No. 843622 ID: 3abd97

An elaborate scheme where she maintains multiple aliases is a big step up in complexity from looks like mostly small-time stuff here.

What's with the dropped murder charge? Sounds like she could have been wrapped up in something that made her an enemy. Maybe that followed her here.
>>
No. 844133 ID: c0641d

Observation: Of her identities, Hannelore appears to be the "real" one, or at least the one she was under when this went down. Her getting kidnapped while she was doing a job as "Hannelore" would make sense then, if the events of the past is the motivator here; I don't see anyone paying a ransom for her. That is, assuming she didn't decide to drop off the map completely just to profit off of a stolen pet. But then, she can still have just gotten caught in the crossfire of someone trying to get at the client.

(Speaking of ransom notes; if we are dealing with an enemy, then there's good odds of our client receiving one by now. We should check up on that.)

Turned out that both the robbery and the murder was planned by the "leader" of the group because he felt offended by the owner of the house for... not giving him a free sample of frozen yogurt? Fucking hell... seriously? Anyway, here is the guy"

well seeing how the murder charge was dropped do to the mind scan instead of Hannelore snitching like I thought was the case it's unlikely that these three would have a grudge against Hannelore much less to be able to actually kidnap her seeing where the 3 are currently being held. (unless one of them is pulling a law abiding citizen [as in the movie] but even then the distance would make that even more unlikely)

Well might as well fill out that missing person report for the girl then and let Matilda know what little we found out about Hannelore. Like past jobs, people she worked for, and how she seemed to have about a dozen deferent disguises. But one last thing, does it say anywhere that Hannelore ever had a history with drugs? I'm just asking because her three partners all do and I find it slightly odd that given her old choice of friends that she managed to stay clean.

Seems like the only other thing on Hannelor's record that could be important (besides "A-Gravjacking") is the Fraud charge. I don't see her making enemies that serious in the field of shoplifting.

We should be looking for people who know the client. And find out more about Mrs Sl'ur'Ga'zz in general. Hannelore gave her real name to her. Why would she do that?

Ask if Matilda knows anything about Mrs Sl'ur'Ga'zz.

Also we need to check out the park, where Hannelore was last seen. Are there any camera feeds of the park? Matilda may be able to get us a lead there.

Thank her for the information, get BEA to download it, then quietly ruminate on being kicked off the force. That sucked.

After ruminating, head out! This seems more and more like a classic revenge case. Someone wanted Hannelore to pay, perhaps.

Did an officer get hit? After that, we’re done here. This has been interesting, but we’ve hit a dead end when it comes to figuring out where she actually is. We need to get to the park and actually figure out what, exactly, went down there. By the lack of reports of a girl getting kidnapped there, this either went down in a remote area of the place, or it was a bit more subtle than your average grab-n-go.

Now hold on just a minute guys. How much of the park do the cameras actually cover? Considering that the Bank is open “at all hours,” we should stay here and capitalize on as much manual clue-finding time as we can. Stick to the outside-in approach; even if they were grabbed deeper in, and any clues found there could help point towards the “who,” a girl and her boss’s dog had to be removed from the park at a location, and is more likely to tell us the more important “where.”

May I ask for when the bank is next scheduled to open?

If it's no time soon you'll have to call someone to access the camera feeds, the goons here don't have the authority to give you what you need.

When you leave: thank you for your help and good luck to you! I hope you'll eventually encounter someone you're allowed to shoot.

Probably shouldn’t stick our noses into anything potentially dangerous to be privy to (like the prototype they mentioned) unless it’s plausibly related to the case. Just focus on getting the footage. If we have time to do one more thing and still grab a bite to eat, we should try talking to that fellow on the bench that’s been shown in the background for a couple panels. He’s in a central location, and doesn’t seem to move much.

Hey mudaki. I started asking around for your crap. An update with the missus won’t hurt. Maybe ask more about the victim. And tell her that the sitter might have also been a victim in this kidnapping, potentially even the primary target, as we don’t see why she would suddenly drop off the face of the Galaxy after just a dognapping. Also prepare to head back to the park to actually do some first-hand clue-sniffing. Doesn’t matter how hard we follow the victim’s connections; we aren’t getting anywhere until we get some insight into the crime itself’s order of events. Don’t waste any effort; if nobody has received a ransom note, then time is probably not on our side.

Heh, the ole 'revealing cover-up' button. Good memories. Shame we're dying too fast to enjoy this case more. Anyway, we need to interview the people Bu'ka knew. Think we can get into the prison to see him? Also, maybe a quick stop by the park tomorrow.

And it might be painful, but try to forgive the people around you for freaking out about your health. BEA was built to take care of you, after all.

Also, make an appointment with Klig'an. Maybe we can get some food while on our coffee date.

If you can spare a few credits, do so (assuming that’s what the sign he put up is asking for). Then open with “Question.” So he at least knows you aren’t here to harass him before he has a chance to shut you out again. He’s probably had it rough from the folks around here. Ask if he saw anything... was it two days ago? Ask what he saw in the last two days. If he doesn’t give up anything useful, mention that you’re investigating the kidnapping of a dog sitter and the dog she was walking.
