Go to the cavern first before heading towards town to get the most accurate track of where he went, If anything happened to him on the way there its possible you will find traces of it by doing so. Plus he may have left clues behind of where he was headed.

It’s been at least 100 years since Fiddler was last summoned by Mojo, so any traces in between the cavern and the town are gonna be long gone.

The only traces we’ll find will hopefully be in the cavern and/or in the town.

You head for the cavern Moji stopped in first. It's a bit of a walk but you manage to reach it without any trouble.

it's a very large cavern, but it's still only one room. There isn't much to search, you don't find any bones or traces of anybody inside. Fiddler Imp looks a little disheartened.

Fiddler: I don't know what I expected...I guess we just gotta look for somethin' in da town.

The wind begins to pick up the sand and toss it into the air. Looks like a sandstorm is gonna start very soon. Hopefully, the town isn't too far from here.

You try to continue on as fast as you can to avoid the oncoming sandstorm, but you aren't fast enough to get away from it. Soon enough you find yourself trecking through blinding sand, you're almost certain you'll get lost in this pretty quickly.

Ada: One thing about the surface I definitely don't care for!

You: Hey! at least you have extra eyes to spare!

You aren't sure if you're going the right way anymore! Before you give up entirely you see a trio of lights of in the distance. A scouting convoy maybe? They're approaching you as fast as cars...

Use Aether Scan to see what’s there and to see if they’re friendly or not.

Hopefully, these aren’t more of those Headlight monsters!

You do your best to keep your eye open in the sandstorm and activate Aether Scan [68oz ==> 58oz]. Now you see clearly, more of those Headlight creatures are running around here, and a trio of them is heading right for you!

You reach for your gun and warn Ada and Fiddler to get ready, but instead of attacking the Headlights rush past your group and continue to run away. They make high pitched wailing noises as they run away, you can see blood dripping out of a gash in one of their sides and ones missing an arm.

Ada: W-what were those things?

Fiddler: Bad news, dat's wat dey are. Well dey ain't botherin' us, let's getta move on.

Oh god.
What where they running from?
>>
No. 868900 ID: f6785d

Hold on, this can't be good. If they are runing awaay from something, it has to be really tough. But what it worys me the most is from where they were runing from. If they where runing from the town you are going to, that means something dangerous is in your way, or in your very destination. Or, what it could be worst, you are already lost and heading who knows where becouse of the sandstorm.

Okay, this sandstorm is getting annoying, can we summon something to shield us or otherwise avoid getting pelted by sand?

Tell Ada and Fiddler that the Headlights were scared, injured, and running away from something!

Let’s take a several steps to the side in case whatever did that is chasing the Headlights! We don’t want to get stepped on!

And if anyone has any rope or something similar, now would be a good time to tie it around each other so we don’t get separated! Otherwise, stay extremely close to each other! Hell, even holding hands would help!
>>

Sounds like we need to be making ourselves scarce as well, I’m not keen on finding whatever they were running from
>>
No. 868910 ID: b1b4f3

Keep Aether Scan activated. The extended blood cost is minor over time and if they're running from something you want advance notice of what it is.

...what if the sandstorm is created by a monster? Maybe that's what happened to Mojo.

868964

They were running from something, but what? In fact, you aren't entirely sure if you're still going the right way. That or something dangerous is waiting for you near your destination. You bend down to pick up your hat when you hear something else approach from the same direction.

You don't have time to prepare before it's right in front of you. A masked man on a large bird, a skipper bird, stands in front of you holding a long scythe. Fiddler Imp was quick enough to return himself to the Aether before being seen. The man tries to speak to you, but it's hard to hear him through his mask and the storm. It just comes out as muffled grunts across all the noise, he doesn't seem like a threat though.

He looks around and turns beckoning you to follow him. It looks like he knows where he's going.

If he knows where to go, then you should go ahead and follow him. It’s better than being lost in this sandstorm!

Make sure you hold onto Ada’s hand, so that you don’t get separated from her!

Without much of a choice, you and Ada follow behind him. For a while, all you can do is walk behind him in silence trying to get through the sandstorm until you see what looks like a small town up ahead. As you get closer to it the man's voice can be heard more clearly as the sandstorm dies down a bit.

???: Normally don't get many people 'round 'ere, nobody's dumb enough to walk out this far fer nothin'. It's a blessin' though, church don't come round here neither so we don't gotta worry 'bout them too much.

???: Though I don't think we've ever had pagans come here either, so what brings you round?

How does he know? Did he saw Fiddler earlier?

We are here to find out what happened with a guy who lost his violin somewhere around here 200 years ago. Maybe he died here maybe he keep living somewhere else without his instrument.

How does a town in the desert survive without commerce?

We are here looking for someone, that is most probably already dead for over 200 years now.

Good. Those guys are a pain in the ass.

>Though I don't think we've ever had pagans come here either, so what brings you round?
Ask him what makes him think we’re pagans?

If he mentions seeing Fiddler before he disappeared or something else that would make sense, then go ahead and tell him why you’re here.

Wouldn't it make more sense to mention Mojo rather than Fiddler? Maybe even mention his real name Mason Anthem.

What are you talking about? It makes perfect sense because Fiddler was with us here: >>868964 , when this guy showed up. So if he mentions seeing Fiddler before he disappeared, then it makes sense why this guy is assuming we’re pagans when we didn’t even tell him that we’re pagans.

Also, there’s no way this guy was alive when Mojo was here, since that took place 100 years ago, so he wouldn’t mention seeing Mojo.

I’m gallows and this ada, we’re here investigating the disappearance of a pagan known as mojo, this was his last known location.

But figuring that out’s gonna take a while so would you mind telling me who you are and a bit about this town if you can.
>>
No. 871018 ID: 33ab15

True, but I find it more likely that this guy may have heard of Mojo since this was his last known location. It just makes more sense to me that’s he may have heard of the man not the demons he summoned. Besides this guy doesn’t necessarily seem like a Pagan so he might not be familiar with demons and summons.
>>
No. 871025 ID: 91ee5f

>>871018
No, pay attention. Right now, we’re asking why he’s assuming we’re pagans, we’re not talking about Mojo yet.

If he answers that he saw Fiddler just now in the present day with Roland, before he disappeared back to the Aether, that will answer our question of why he thinks we’re pagans even though we didn’t tell him that.

You: What makes you think we're pagans?

???: It's not both of ya, just you. Aside from the red you were it's also the smell ya give off. No offense, but ya always stink like blood, ash, and rainwater. Even so, I'm not gonna tell no authorities or nothin'

He lifts his mask showing a familiar scar across his left eye.

???: I'm the last person who'd help the church with anything, same goes for anyone else in town.

You reach the town, a wooden sign at the front reads "Welcome to Sandysprings". The sandstorm as died down a bit but it still seems best that you head inside somewhere.

???: Goodness! I just realized I ain't even told ya my name yet. I'm Pete.

You: Roland, Pete I came here searching for someone who died a long time ago, maybe a little more than a hundred years?

Pete: Well I'm not sure I can help ya, I ain't that old. Maybe ask a few people and you'll find someone, though if it's been that long you'll need to get lucky if ya wanna find anything.

Pete: You can try the Hotel, it's been up and runnin' for years so there could be something there. Plenty of people gather in the Saloon for drinks, there are some old folks there too that might know somethin'. We've also got a General Store, a Barbershop, a Sheriff, plenty of places for you to check.

Pete: Welp, I'm headin' to the Saloon for a drink. By the way, If you see a blonde woman in a white jacket I suggest you stay away from her.

You: That's a pretty vague description.

Pete: You'll know her when you see her, hopefully, she don't take no interest in you. Anytime she's around weird stuff happens. Anyway goodluck on your search! You know where I'll be if you need me.

Pete trots off on his skipper bird and you're left in the middle of town. You have a few places you could go and any of them sound better than sitting out here.

Would’ve been nice if he explained what kind of weird stuff.

Although, with our luck, she’s going to end up being the person with the information we’re looking for. Hopefully, she doesn’t turn out to be an enemy.

>Where to?
The last time we got anything that belonged to Mojo was when we bought it at Ada’s shop. So maybe we’ll get lucky and find something else that belonged to him at the General Store?

Make sure you ask people if they’ve ever heard of Mojo and make sure you use his real name and all that jazz.
