I need some help in the game. Ive read a bit of the wiki and some of the tutorial. I'm not done yet. But I wanted to know of good lag free server I can practice low level jobs on to get the hang of things. And if any on tg feels like helping me in game, that'd be awesome.

You need to click on a body part of a tiny little person while they are moving around cover and obstacle while lag (even though i have a good gaming pc) teleports them all over the place. Fucking aweful.

Bodypart targeting is done on the little paper doll on the top right, while actual attacks are done on the character proper. The only time you would actually need to deal with bodypart targeting is at round start (to switch to head), while healing someone with bruise packs (for head/chest), and for the bodypart severing of /tg/ (where you should have them down and have plenty of time to cut their legs off)

As for lag, yes that can suck at times. It is still possible to hit people while lag goes on, your movement will still be somewhat registered before everyone's screens update (provided you both are moving towards each other or somesuch)

I like to call SS13 lag matrix mode because I dodge gunshots even easier when it does happen. Nothing like dodging an entire taser's worth of power without running away from the officer.

looking forward to hecarim myself, even though I think that 'gets bonus attack damage with movespeed' thing is slightly broken.

I would say 'stack phantomdancers to win' but considering his likely half tank nature it's probably going to end up as 'take 2 force of nature, a phantom dancer , [insert damage item here] and boots to win' and I'm sure a raduins omen is going in there somewhere.

Finished it a couple days ago. Party: Front row, Minotaur Fighter + Human Fighter
Back row, Lizardman rogue, Insectoid fire mage.

The minotaur, despite having the most HP, drew so much goddamn aggro and got his face wrecked tons for some reason. Also played Oldschool because CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.

Started a new game, no oldschool (pointless since I already have ze maps). 4 mage party. Surprisingly effective, and predicting that it'll become near-immune to magic in the late game, just as my first party just shrugged off fire damage later (the Protective Circle passives are amazing, +25 elemental resistance to whole party)

Do sharp edges effect how random dice are when they roll?

If I get some sharp edged dice vs round edged dice will one be drastically more random than the other? Has anyone here tested this?

The manufacturing process he eliminates is tumbling the dice if those are GameScience dice. Tumbling the dice doesn't round the corners in a uniform way, making them less random by making the shape irregular. This effect is compounded by allowing them to roll for longer, exacerbating the irregularity.
>>
No. 20947 ID: 3eb900

All casinos use fresh, sharp-edged dice because they are more random. Casinos do not use dice that allow the person throwing the dice to manipulate the result.
>>
No. 20952 ID: 72d49b

Nothing other than cheating actually effects how random dice are. True randomness means the outcome is impossible to predict, but since dice being rolled follow the normal and consistent laws of physics, they can theoretically be predicted even if doing so is beyond human ability. The only technically accurate and practically useful measure of randomness is how difficult it is to predict. In this regard, dice have randomness that is always adequate for all practical purposes.
What is actually in question is actually the variation in probabilities of each possible outcome. As far as that goes, rounding corners decreases the reduction in roll on each turn of the die and thus increases the effect that irregularities have. So it does increase variation in probabilities, meaning that one possible outcome may be substantially more likely than the next.

Not sure where else to go for help; this is the only place I know of that talks about 4chan.

Every time I try to post to /tg/ (or any other board! but I only post to /tg/), I get redirected to board /z/, shown a picture of beecock.jpg (not shown on the left), and a message "oh not the board is gone!"

Happens using any browser. Does not happen if I use a proxy. Is this an April Fools Joke that spilled over to April 2nd, or is this some mod banning me from all boards permanently?

Doesn't matter if I clear my cache or use a different browser.
I found part of the problem: if I go to http://4chan.org/banned , I'm told I have a 7-day timeout from posting to /co/. Doesn't explain why I was getting the beecock.jpg instead of the normal banned message. Also doesn't explain why I get beecock.jpg when I'm trying to post to any board that isn't /co/.

I'm guessing it's a software glitch; the thingamajigger that prevents me from posting isn't checking first to see which board I'm posting to, and it's assuming any ban is a global ban.

I'll file a bug report. I hope I get to talk to a sane mod, and not one of the power-mad ones.

One would think that, until looking at the actual threads and realizing how ridiculously huge they truly are. The wiki pages are a hopeless attempt to cram key bits of information into a format that's actually useful for reference, because there's so much information accumulated at this point that even those who know the game really well can't remember the essentials reliably.

A lot of enemies have extremely specialized defenses. Usually they have one that they are amazing against, one that they are middling against, and one that they are terrible against. The scavengers, for example, have like 3000 KE defense and 200 TE defense.

The boss of level 7 has similar defenses, but skewed the other way. If you just fire at him with gatling/shot guns he goes down in about 2 seconds.

If the garage system didn't make it apparent -- along with lower part costs and higher rewards -- ACV is a lot more focused than the previous games around retooling yourself to fit the situations. The weapons you use make a HUGE difference in story mode.

This particular mission is "Anzio", included in SirHinkel's All-in-one Mappack: http://digitalmindsoft.eu/forums/showthread.php?9304-Skirmish-Missions-by-SirHinkel

Forgot to take shots at the screen during the fighting because I was busy, well, fighting. Also the results, because wasn't thinking ahead.

The landing was a success. Over a thousand enemy casualties with only 37 US casualties. 79 enemy vehicles of various types were destroyed or disabled, with only 7 friendly losses.

A significant number of enemy vehicles and weapons were captured.

Two mortars were captured and immediately turned on their previous owners, most notably killing the crews of two Pak38s and destroying a Pak40. There was scratching of heads when, after the battle, the mortars were identified as Russian BM-37s.

The initial force consisted of one M8 howitzer, an M5A1 Stuart light tank, an M3 light antitank gun, an M1 mortar and an infantry element roughly the size of a platoon, including a flamethrower and a sniper. With generous use of HE fire from the M8 and Stuart, the beachhead was secured. Immediate enemy counterattacks in the form of infantry and light vehicles were soundly beaten, with captured machineguns and an antitank rifle put to immediate use.

The Stuart was exceptionally effective in clearing the beach town. While the M8 and Lance Corporal Matther Rogers's flamethrower emptied buildings of infantry, the Stuart destroyed or disabled several light vehicles and eventually rushed into the town, killing infantry and the crews of a mortar and an MG-42 preventing infantry incursion into the town. After the town was captured, the Stuart destroyed or disabled several PzIIs and three PzIIIs, before being destroyed by a PzIII. M5 AT guns had landed by this time, so while regrettable, the loss of the Stuart did not compromise the expanded beachhead. Two other Stuarts landed and engaged several PzIIIs effectively, one on each flank.
The M3 AT gun destroyed several light vehicles and from an excellent position engaged several PzIIIs effectively after the town had been secured. By the time the right flank began its push beyond the town, though, the M5 heavy AT guns had moved too far forward for the M3's field of fire to be effective and it did not have the range and firepower to engage the PzIVs that the enemy was now sending in numbers.

Pictured: LCpl Matthew Rogers and LCpl Allen Hill after the battle. While room-to-room fighting in the beach town was not necessary because of the effectiveness of the flamethrower, the rest of the battle did not see any opportunities for Rogers and Hill.

1st Sergeant Nathan Miller eliminated and suppressed individual fighters in the windows facing the beach. He then covered the road on the left flank until the town was secured, after which he killed a machinegunner and two riflemen in the inn just beyond the town on the right flank. He then killed two light machineguns and several soldiers behind a stone fence, and killed several German paratroopers and scared away others on the right flank, from the rampart of the elevation the church stands on.
During the push he eliminated a heavy machinegun team, and killed or suppressed other infantry in a trench. While he advanced with the frontline, the capture of the trench effectively ended his contribution as the nature of the battle changed decisively in favor of US tank destroyers and artillery.

Besides 40k games (nothing wrong with them just asking for others) what are some good sci-fi RPG games for newbies? Or how about in general?

Every other sci-fi RPG either has terrible rules/premise or it mind fucks you with charts on top of charts inside of charts. OR you die as easily or easier than you die in CoC (which is a strange trend amongst many sci-fi systems apparently)

Oh god what? GURPS and Traveller? The man said we were to AVOID excessive charts, not play Charts: the RPG.

Any time someone is looking for a newbie-friendly, simple system for ANY setting, I recommend BESM. Ignoring its anime origins, BESM is a simple, fun, cinematic system with a great deal of freedom. Since it is a universal system, you NEED to make your own setting, and you may want to disallow some of the out-of-genre attributes (mostly magic. Or not I guess, up to you.) It is probably wise to keep the system out of the hands of problematic min-maxers, because it can be broken pretty easily, but if everyone is there just to have fun, it's a great choice.

I personally would recommend...

Fading Suns.

There was a DnD flavour of SciFi called Alternity. And then there was d20 Modern, which I really recommend against. Or to look up some upgrades to it because WotC ended that line pretty quick.

NOW... there is also Starwars - original Flavour and D20. Both are pretty fine but the availability of the former is low.

You're probably more after spaceships than dystopias, but Paranoia is good times and has lasers. And because most of the fun is in the fluff and the uneasy alliances/bastardly plans, you can throw most of the complicated parts of the crunch out of the window and six-word-RPG it if you've got a good DM.

(Yes, OK, you die a lot, but you get to do it six times per character sheet...)

Other than that... it seems a bit derivative in style, looks like you tried a bit too hard to be like Rubyquest.
Since I understand some people like to hear positive things even though there's little you need to change based on that information, I'll also note that your art is entirely adequate, stuff is represented clearly and your character has a distinct look to him.

~ Beginning ~

The Rexic family wasn't very well known before the 1800s, mostly being a very old line of very boring people. That all changed when Coby Rexic, a bean farmer, was dealing with his very boring problems and accidentally found an old cache of Spanish gold. Thirty tons of Spanish gold, actually. When experts were asked where this gold came from, they weren't sure, but considered it might be the result of ancient Spanish automatons made out of gold. From then on, every member of the Rexic family was a giant success in some way or another; Jack Rexic was a very influential member of British parliament, besides being five years old and American besides, Tom Rexic was the first boxer to win every boxing match he fought in while completely naked, and Mary Rexic was a housewife. But she was a very good housewife.

This string of success lasted until the 1980s, when the latest member of the Rexic family line, coincidentally also named Coby, was born. From the moment he slipped out of his mother and somehow (probably accidentally) killed his father, he was the unluckiest person on the entire continent. This title was scientifically proven, but all the scientists went missing under mysterious circumstances before they could reveal their findings. His bad luck seemed to radiate out and touch everyone who shared even a bit of blood with him. His mother, while taking him to watch the shuttle Challenger be shot into space, ended up being the world's first accidental astronaut, while the young Coby Rexic watched the pretty lights in the sky and thought about how much he loved Cabbage Patch Kids.

His biologist aunt Emily, one of the few adults of the Rexic family still left alive, went traveling in Africa, and ended up discoverin

They smooth out MSPA's text now, and I can't figure out a way to get it to not smooth it
This pisses me off beyond belief.
I stuck to this instead of Chrome because Chrome smoothed out text for me regardless (and my noscript allocations are all on here), now I have no safe place to go. Steam browser smoothes it out, I think IE smoothes it out
Where, oh where, can I get rid of this awful text smoothing?

>Want to play RP games IRL but literally no game shops within 50 miles of my house
>No drivers license so even if i wanted to go through the retarded hassle of driving to a game shop or someones house it is still impossible
>Try to form and join games online
>They always fall apart.
>Find comic book store that sells miniatures and has tables to play in the back
Alrighty then, this place ought to have some RPG players
>A bunch of obese early 30 something year olds who are talking about anal plugs
>Fuck me why.jpg

I just want to play RPGs /tg/ but life keeps getting in the way. What makes it even harder is the fact that I am 18, most RPG players are old as fuck so they don't want to hang around some kid anyways.

Damn. Anyone else in a similar predicament?

Maybe you should just give in and get a anal plug.

two things: One, don't assume that playing RPGs in real life is going to magically be more reliable than doing it online. It's a little better, sure, but most of the same complications apply, and the second session mortality rate for games is high.

Two, don't let a single instance of anal plug conversation set the entire tone of your relation with those dorks. Sometimes conversations go weird places, we are all guilty. If it becomes a consistent pattern then you have every right to run screaming in the other direction though.
And don't be too self-conscious about the age difference. It is a bigger deal to you than it is to them. Once a gamer clears collage, they generally decide not to give a fuck how old their friends are as long as they speak the same culture.
>>
No. 20702 ID: 32e547

You hang out at TGChan (or any Chan really) and get upset that the players were talking about thins like anal plugs?

Have you actually talked to them and tried out a game? Just because they're 30, fat and talk about plugs doesn't mean that they aren't fun people to be around. Try it first with an open mind (because you can easily decide your not going to have fun before hand) you might find that they have fun and challenging sessions and aren't so bad to be around.

Protip: If you start refusing to play with people because they are outside your normal demographic for friend or are even a little creepy or weird during the game you'll miss out on a lot of fun games.

Where by "fun" you mean "unpleasant and uncomfortable".

Since life isn't a comedy film full of hi-lariously contrived situations which foster long sequences of misunderstandings, chances are that if someone's a creepy fuck when you first encounter them, they're going to be a creepy fuck weeks later when they're telling you all about their sexual fetishes. Again.

(More pressingly, I have a fairly hefty sense of copypasta deja vu, "/tg/".)

I wish to create a Legends of the Wulin discussion thread.

http://eos-sama.com/legendofwulin/index.html

For those unfamiliar, it is the spiritual successor of the Weapon of the Gods RPG and has been compared to FATE and Exalted.

You roll a pool of dice and create matching sets. The more sets you can create, the more actions you can do.

Anybody here familiar/interested in this game?

Stranded in Fantasy

So, a little over a week ago a fine intelligen/tg/entleman over on 4chan started a STORYTIEM thread...

and it's still going on

I can only recommend this with the might of a thousand burning suns: this is quality on-going writefaggotry similar to Wasteland Warrior and other /tg/ writefags of legend.

part 7 is still active:

We did have a small problem with a troll who for some reason got supremely asspained over the story - but he's been banned now (I reason this because I too got caught in that purge, sucks, but I'm waiting on the appeal to fix that)

>TL:DR - awesome fantasy story time. A fa/tg/uy and other humans get sucked into a D&D world. Epicness ensues.

It's a pretty good ending really. There would never be an end to the loose ends, considering they're in a world where they can basically do anything and everything. There's just too much for them to achieve, it couldn't all be written down.

So there is an awesome game that will be out sometime in the nearish future.

http://www.terraria.org/
http://www.youtube.com/user/demilogic

It's a 2d thingmajigger, seems to be mostly about exploring, with combat and minecraft-style digging and building also being major themes. Character power is based on your wealth and equipment, there aren't any stats.

A (somewhat exploity) idea I had:
Cross necklace + high armor + floor of hellstone = 1 damage/second making you count as 'damaged', protecting you from things such as boss attacks
Results: So far I have not tested it against a boss, but in tests against hardmode monsters, there is a partial but notable success rate at preventing monster damage. Whether this method actually helps in boss fights depends on how often you are hit by the boss, as the constant one damage/second prevents regeneration and wears at your health.

>>
No. 20105 ID: 049dfa

It protects you from all attacks that aren't colliding with a boss's actual body (if you are touching the monster's body when it comes time for damage to tick, that takes priority over the hellstone). So it's a lot more effective against the twins and destroyer than skeletron prime, but it helps against all of them.
>>
No. 20106 ID: 2f7168

>>20103
i do this, and the amount of damage colliding with a boss is obscene in all circumstances so the priority is to end the fight as soon as possible which armor accessories just delay. what's funny is spazmatism's cursed flamethrower attack takes no priority at all over the fire-block damage. for skeletron, the fire-block exploit allows targeting the saw a legitimate strategy. once it's gone you can relax infinitely

equip star cloak for a lol. it's not effective on bosses but if it's reforged, whatever

That is desctiption is extremely similar to how I normally play TES games (except for the most recent time, when I played an Orc mage just to spite the natural order of things {an example of what I am referring to is how in Oblivion, the Orcs are the only species without a single member in the mage's guild}).

Also, that is a very nice drawing which makes me kind of sad I don't have Skyrim yet.

As an observant commenter noted, that's actually a retextured Rainbow Dash. The hair's wrong.

This clearly ruins all and any enjoyment of the video.
